I like lists. I want to list songs with lists in them.

We Didn't Start The Fire - Billy Joel
That's Entertainment - The Jam
Reasons to be Cheerful Part 3 - Ian Dury and The Blockheads

What others can you think of?

Also, what makes lists so compelling? I think there's a certain poetry in how one item relates to the next one. Items on a list can be a trip from one end of a thought sequence to another. They can show contrasts and different shades of the same thing. They be surreal. They can also tell a story in fragments, leaving you to fill in the gaps.

George Orwell liked making lists. It's an AS thing, I think. My bf carries a notepad with him all the time; we've sat together making spontaneous lists many times.

The prototypical song with a list!! !
Written in 1885 and still fresh today (partly because of the tradition of writing new verses for it every time it's performed):

"You Get What You Give" by the New Radicals. They were one hit wonders but I remember rather liking this song when it came out. It sounded so different from the other crap that was popular at the time.
