I see a lot of boards here with people who just dress to be comfortable and don't really care about fashion and stuff like that. While I appreciate that point of view, I've always enjoyed fashion and find being girly as a fun thing. I mean, if it was ever a chore for me, then I wouldn't do it, it's not that important, but I love the way I feel when I feel cute and I'm wearing just the right amount of make-up. It doesn't make me stupid or not as logical and smart as I am, it's just the way I am. I still value some form of comfort :)
Anybody out there sort of like that?

Yeah :) I like dresses & skirts b/c they're cute & clothing has to be modest, comfortable, and cute :) Though I wouldn't say I'm completely into the 'in' styles. I also like doing my hair & getting clips & stuff for my hair. I wear make-up sometimes & I currently have my toes painted purple. Definitely not a super girly-girl, but definitely not a tomboy either.

I think like everything, the girly-ness of people is on a continuum.

I loathe the "in styles", so many of them aren't flattering for anybody with a lick of curves XD Skinny jeans look sad on pretty much everyone, except a select few. Lets just say I'm a HUGE fan of my dark wash boot cut jeans :)
I know it's a bit of a stereotype to ask about girly aspies, hence the quotes in the title :) I don't like stereotypes, but I couldn't think of any other way to ask my question :P

I'm girly! I'm girly!
I like wearing skirts and dresses and pretty things. But I also have tactile defensiveness so I need things to be comfortable. I can wear certain clothes for a period of time but then I have to wear something comfy. Today I'm wearing a super cute (if I do say so myself) Red cowl neck dress made out of jogging suit material but it's former-fitting in just the right places and a pair of tights without feet.
I like wearing makeup, I have to wear micabella mineral makeup because I have really really sensitive skin but I love the bright bright colours!
I'm going to get my hair done tomorrow, I'm getting it dyed dark brown with white streaks like Rogue from Xmen. I kinda like punkishness too, sometimes I dye my hair bright colours too. I just love colour, it's funny because in high school I only wore black!
Have a good night and I'm glad to meet other girly Aspies!
Lisa

oh I don't wear skinny jeans, I don't wear anything that is too tight where the seams can annoy me and make my skin hurt. :)

I used to have problems with certain clothing as a child because of the texture, but it's much better now. My worst sensitivities now are auditory and other people's touch, not tactile.
I've been wanting to dye my hair sooooooo long, but just don't have the guts. I want to get auburn streaks...I think :) I love red hair so much, but I love my brunette hair as well :)
I love leggings, I don't know why I don't wear them more often. I guess I'm too addicted to my jeans :)

Yes. I love dolling up and feeling pretty. Sadly, my weight gets in the way of that a lot of the time but that's beside the point. :D

i am definitely into fashion. i used to sew and sell my own designs online. but trying to sell things that people would 'want' killed my creativity.

anyway, i love to wear unusual and fun stuff, like extravagantly decorated handmade hats. i mix & match stuff a lot. i aspire to be a nutty fashion icon in my senior years. for now, i think i dress quirky a lot of the time.

but.... i do like black skinny jeans!

I'm not super-girly, but I'm girly. I don't wear makeup but I always wear skirts and dresses, often ethnic clothing. And I design and crochet my own lace caps to match my dresses. But I wear athletic shoes (Vibram Fivefingers) because I have proprioceptive difficulties and can't walk in anything else. I try to match them up with what I'm wearing for a funky, pulled-together (as much as possible) look. My "jeans" is a denim skirt that I wear for casual, for hiking, for house painting, etc.

I have long hair (used to be to my tailbone until my hair started falling out. I lost about 2/3 of my hair but now it's growing back and is about bra-strap length.) And I love toys, including about 100 My Little Ponies from various generations. My favorite color is purple, which is also fairly girly. And while it's not my favorite color, I'm not at all averse to pink.

I wear girl's clothing. I'm not interested in fashion beyond my own personal choices in clothing. I can't wear make-up. My hair is dyed and kept not-short. It is difficult to find things that are comfortable to me but as you get older you just kind of learn, so it's not as big of a deal [as a kid I was limited to sweats.]

What else constitutes as girly beyond appearance? I seem to have the typical girl special interests in aspies (like human languages.) I think it's probably common that girl aspies like to wear nice clothes but that their clothing choices aren't influenced by others.

I'm also very girly, I'll never leave the house without make-up.
I wear fashionable clothes but they have to be somewhat elastic and soft. I have a lot of sexy wrap dresses.
I'll never again wear high heels because I want to move fast, soundles and without sore feet.

hyperlexian, I'm in awe! I can sew basic stuff but cannot seem to graduate to the next level. I'm great at Halloween costumes, though... 8)

I am moderately girly, but only because I have to dress to blend in (I'm on the down-low). Left to my own devices, it would never occur to me to do any of the outwardly girly things. Plus, I'm curvy, and as someone mentioned upthread, modern clothes aren't really cut that way. So it makes no sense for me to try. I do love high heels, though.

Additionally, I just rail against a societal expectation (even the expectation that I make it a priority), so I withdraw completely from the competition.

Oh! I thought we were just talking outward appearances. Yes, I like knitting, too (all fabric arts, really) and cooking. All my hobbies are girly. Except the kickboxing. And even then I wear big earrings.

awww thanks! but it's not like i sold a lot of stuff - most of it was too weird! i was trying to start a business to escape my life (i even tried to get onto project runway canada, but did not make it in the door at all), but i realized that it was actually making me more unhappy.
