I'm curious of what everyone would want to be Captain of especially in the Star Trek universe.

I myself would firstly pick a Delta Flyer class. Fact of the matter is after I've studied DITL I've come to the conclusion that it is by far the most powerful ship of it's size, a size where I would be able to find a full crew I could trust without much effort and it's also probably the most efficient use of materials in a ship in the Star Trek Universe.

Assuming I could get a crew large enough to man a Nebula class ship (780 according to DITL) it would be my second choice because it is a fairly no-nonsense ship with a small profile and a large torpedo payload but when needed to do tasks aside from just shoot and kill stuff it can be fitted for science or rescue missions.

While it would be easy to pick the biggest and the best ships please refrain and be modest in your selection. If you don't fight even to defend yourself pick a science vessel or something with low armaments. Don't go crazy and claim that the perfect ship for you is "the reman warbird Scimitar" because you need to decimate planets with your thalaron radiation emitters.

Oh I don't know, a shinny one with rockets and thrusters and lasers and things?

I would like a spaceship with a party floor and plenty of people on board. Also a swimming pool and slides and swings for adults. Someone really technical would be flying the ship (not me), and the ship would photograph galaxies and nebulae in deep space, possibly photograph the edge of the universe too.

Moya

Although i'd have to ditch pilot. I can't go around traversing the universe with a helmsman who looks like a gigantic multi-limbed penis

Does this have to be Star Trek ships :?: For my 1st choice I would go the Star Wars rout & command the Millenium Falcon. I would not need a big crew, I could go my own way & do my own things & it's fast enough to outrun the big Star Destroyers so I could escape a lot of fights. I would need a crew-mate/co-pilot & an R2droid would be very handy to have.

My 2nd choice would be the Andromeda Ascendant from Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda. The ship was able to get by on a 5 person crew & even thou the ship was three centuries in the future; it was still very tough. Also the Commonwealth had fallen & the remaining member of it was Dylan, the caption who was trying to rebuild it. I would have rules/guidelines to fallow but ultimately I would not be bound by rules, regulations & diplomacy. I could kind of do things my own way. Plus the ship's artificial inelegance, Rommie had human emotions & an android body that looked & probably felt real. To quote something at the beginning of an ep that was on the screen rite after the credits of it~ "You ask why we give our Ships' Computers normal Emotions? Do you really want a Warship Incapable of Loyalty? Or of Love?"
The ship's avatar would make a great partner for me

I'm not sure which Star Trek ship I would pick to command; I'll have to think about this some

I'd rather take the USS Defiant, while Empress Hoshi Sato was busy - it was the most advanced ship in the Empire at the time... :)

I'm also quite fond of the continua craft Gay Deceiver, from Heinlein's " -Number of the Beast -". I'd be a while mapping what universes were accessible on which axes, of course.

Sappho's Quest (heh - don't think Google will help you on that one, unless you're looking for lesbian dating)

Nostalgia for Infinity. Oh... you said Captain? On second thoughts, not Nostalgia for Infinity. Yikes. Nosiree!

Star Trek usually bores me, but if I had to pick one then one of those ginormous Romulan D'Deridex warbirds would do. Yes, I dislike the show, yes, I'm still geeky enough to know what they're called. They do look cool.

And the Far Star, of course, because holding hands with a map of the galaxy is pretty close to my idea of heaven.

I would want to make sure the star ship had a holodeck. Can you imagine all the fun you could have with a holodeck?

I always thought the original Star Trek series Enterprise was a magical kind of thing. I have always liked tradition, and it is the original Enterprise (for all the series). Being inside that craft flying through space had a cozy feel to it for me.

So...I would like the original Enterprise with a latest state of the art holodeck.

well, FRISKEYGIRL, i'm willing to fight you for tin man.....even though i would have to give the ship another name...
gumtoo is just more than is acceptable.

tin man is certainly my favorite s t episode ever. cried the first time i saw it. what a chance to be 'happy'.

wait...wait....it just dawned to me that only males can bond with a tinMAN. so it's all mine. oh joy.

My ship would be powered by the six dimensional gizmo from Robert Heinliens "The Number of the Beast"

It would take me instantly to any place in this universe or any other universe.

It wouldn't need a crew because the artificial intelligence computer would respond to my thoughts.

I second the swings and slides for adults. Can we add a ball pit and/or a bounce house? Sorry, I'm not the technical type, but would like to help collect flora and fauna on other planets.

I like the battle star Galactica. It is functional. Holodecks are for wusses and Sybarites. And a control room in which the captain sits with his legs crossed during a fire fight is really beyond the pale.
