Name: Zacharias (Zach)
Age: 23
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 105lbs.
Location: Southern Ontario, Canada

Interests: Anime, video games, comics, candy, animals, good times.

Fun Fact: My birthday is March 14th, same as Albert Einstein. :P

Harro folks. I am the Gaijin Ranger.

For the longest time, I had the worst social phobias ever. It stemmed from not being able to fully understand myself. I always wanted to do the best for people, but for some reason, all my life, I've had a feeling as though I was watching life from outside of a fish tank. I'm sure some of you can relate.

Unfortunately for me, while I can see in myself a textbook Aspie, coming from a painful background such as mine, I've gained coping measures that actually hide the autism. And in fact I do it so well that everyone scoffs at me when I bring it up. Doctors won't even help me. They just laugh and tell me I'm fine, just like everyone else.

Regardless, someday I hope to get an official diagnosis. All I'm searching for is a little closure, you know?

Anyway, how many other Canadians are here?

Welcome! I'm Canadian too, from the Vancouver area.

I'm from Hamilton and area. The farm where I spent 7 years is now underwater, and I have not been back since some time in Toronto in '77. I recently had a lot of trouble because I too have learned to pass as normal, even though it takes me days to get ready for, and unwind from, most social interaction. I thought that i had enough of a reputation for honesty that when I said that I was being forced into a crisis, people would help, but nobody took it seriously, and I lost all my "friends." I finally understand that most folks just don't "get" the logic of a situation as strongly as I.
I went for a psych evaluation, and the guy said I had AS characteristics, but didn't want to stigmatize me. Well, I score just fine on the AS tests, and now my life makes some kind of sense, so I know. Also, my regular counselor is fine with my truth.

Bonne Chance!

I'm another Canadian, and a newbie on this site. Nice to see I'm not the only one here. I'm not formally diagnosed, but I am a lot more like an Aspie than an NT. Now assorted weirdnesses that have confused me all my life actually make sense, and I think it's the root cause of the fibromyalgia and depression problems that have been driving me up the wall the past few years.
