I am being facetious, of course. But what is with this diagnosis in abstentia thing? Why is so much effort put into finding famous people that may or may not be on the spectrum? Maybe I'm being self centered, but how does speculating about Albert Einstein's potential Asperger's benefit me in any way? I find it annoying that these ASD icons represent a level of achievement not only impossible for me to attain, but impossible for virtually anyone to attain. It's hard enough maintaining a decent self image without the pressure of having to be hyper competent in some field in order to be accepted.

I don't want no fricking Nobel Prize. I just want to be content with the narrative of my life.

The absentia diagnosis is a bit like selling it to the masses. Normalising it, widening the bell curve of normal. eg if you cure Aspergers then you lessen the likelihood of producing hyperreal intellects like Edison, Einstein etc. It's spurious but it's not really aimed at the great thinkers of our generation.
I think it's also to do with our curiousity with the abnormal & different. Like our fascination with serial killers or depressive suicidal writers; they appeal to our sense of the fantastic, the unreal, the special or gifted eg Rainman.

Does Jesus have Asperger's? In my view, a stronger case could be made for Jesus having Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE)/complex partials or Dyslexia than Asperger's. Is it possible that some followers of Jesus (extremist religious politicians) had or have Asperger's? Maybe.

As you may or may not know, Einstein is held to be a role model for a variety neurological challenges including Asperger's and ADHD. Apparently groups which raise money for non-profit organizations are eager to claim deceased people as role models: examples Einstein (Asperger/ADHD, etc.) and Leonardo da Vinci (Dyslexic, etc.).
