Max Payne 1 and 2, the plot was amazing!
Also there are other good games like The Witcher. freelancer, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I've played many, many games over the years. And so many have given me so much enjoyment that I feel it would be a disservice to all of them if I were to just pick a few as my favorites.

This is even mor difficult then the other topic.
Probably the one that comes to mind is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it is so good that I have had to create multiple character to experience it, for one there is so much to explore, from characters to envirments to items/loot, and the controlls were not too bad as you could play how you wanted. Of course there are quite a few bugs, but everything else was so good.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

I know it was bug ridden and unfinished game but it had an atmosphere even modern RPG fail to create. Especially the characters and dialog were unique.

Neverwinter Nights.

Not the Bioware made official campaign, user made modules like Honor among Thieves, Tales of Arterra and the Dreamcatcher series.

<3

Metal Gear Solid 2 was also good

That's a extremely hard decision. I'm pretty much addicted to the Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger/Cross, and Resident Evil series.

Dwarf Fortress. This is what I play when the latest AAA or AA games I buy do not bring much excitement and a quick retirement to a box.
