I have 1/2 acre with allot of space. It's not all mine but I get sections of it to do what I want. I live in a micro-climate in Humboldt County. So it is my parents place, but I have allot of freedom to do what I want.

Some might remember the pictures of my garden I showed, it was all pots. I have to take new pictures. This is my new interest; I just got through digging out annoying berry plants that are like a weeds. Now I am adding new top soil and planting 70+ packs of annual flower seeds. The goal is to harvest the seeds but primarily I will be focusing on perennials in the future.

Anyone else want to discuss gardening? I am making pictures later today or tomorrow I will post. I just settled on a new domain name so the source images will be available.

I want to find new sources of bulk seeds, I dont like messing with less then 1/2 ounce of seeds at a time. Seems like a waste and the goal is to have more flowers then anyone else in this town in this yard.

Nathan

P.S: Cows and horses use to poop here, it's really good dirt.

I garden obcessively - but with the drought here - I'm guessing my plant selection is a lot different than yours . . .

I like growing things to eat.

I also like roses, and plants that grow from cuttings like hydrangers and geraniums.

I like things that self seed. I've got parsley and tomatoes and silver beet growing wild in my garden.

I hate my landlord. He likes weed killer. So far he's killed all the lettuce, all the peas, the self sown pansies, my spuds, the geraniums etc etc. He's trying to kill the daisies. He's already killed the orange tree. He doesn't believe me when I say citrus can absorb weed killer through the trunk. But he can't read so I can't show him.

when I get my own place I will have a small fruit orchard, like one apricot, one peach, one orange, one lemon etc. And a vegie patch and the rest will be herbs and flowers, like roses, and aromatics like lavendar, and maybe some stuff to attract small birds and make life difficult for cats (flowering prickle bushes).

I have approximately 15 ft square, and 400+ visitors expected on Sunday!
My "Hidden gardens" day in aid of the local hospice.

The weather has done wel this yearm, and apart from three clematis plants chewed to death by something or other, probably snails, and the complete failure of a batch of sweet peas, the garden is looking good. the trains are running well, the alyssum and the campanula are magnificent, and it looks as though the fuschias will just be out in time.

I'll be taking a new batch of pictures on Friday.

My grandmother in a california coastal town has been in magazines and has had her garden on display many times. She is to old likely to do it anymore, but she is into all of that.

Well she is more in the mountain parts.

I am also a plant person. I have an acre of land to garden with 3 ponds.
The irises and peonies just now are in bloom. Here is a pic of 1 of the peonies blooming.

I wish that I could have a garden. My family just moved to a townhouse where we have no yard. At our old house, we had loads fo flowers that my mum and I used to take care of togther. My favourite were the lilies. We also had planted some flox that grew over a wall we had in our backyard. They are very pretty, but I do not know if you can grow them in just a regular garden; they grow to be rather like a blanket, and they might smother you other plants....

:D Oh, boy! Don't get me started on compost! I love growing things and read everything I can find on permaculture. I don't get to do much but I love to hear about organics, heirloom seeds, no-till gardening, medicinal herbs, etc. I want to grow my own produce because food is becoming expensive and is full of who-knows-what. I want to start a spiral herb garden and build a greenhouse so bad.

Those look beautiful. Can you grow passionvine in your climate? They have gorgeous blooms and I bet you'd be good at it. It can grow here, but the season is too short for them to bear fruit. :(
