Opinions on what this could be?
Contacted the state recently but would like to hear opinions on this.
- I like to pace around in a circle while flicking my fingers and thinking about various things. I kind of get lost in thought, and it's sort of relaxing imo.
- Occasionally I rock back and forth in a subtle way for the same reason. Don't do it very long but tend to do it when speaking with someone.
- Sometimes, but not very often, I repeat the exact same sentence someone greets me with if I'm not expecting it and then answer. I don't like doing this but can accept it I think.
- I kind of do this tongue thing too, I can't tell if it's a stim or tick. I just kind of roll the tip of my tongue down past my lower lip pretty regularly and it's hard to stop because it's subconscious. I'm pretty much fidgeting my tongue around constantly in some manner.
-I repeat things in my head but is not an issue to me
- When I try to speak to someone sometimes it takes me a few seconds to actually stop what I'm doing and initially start stuttering or something like that until I can throw out a coherent response. If I'm not expecting it or if its a subject I'm not used to I kind of stall in a way. Pretty awkward.
Not having friends is not really that bad to me, I enjoy being alone a lot of the time, but it's the things above that are making me go to the state for diagnosis. I've taken about 5 of the tests posted in a thread here on this website and I score pretty highly for ASD in all of them. This part is not really important to me but I don't think it's normal for a person to do what I'm doing above. Opinions on what this could be?

It could be an ASD. However, just because you see these things as "not normal," are they causing you any problems in daily functioning?

Yes it is causing me trouble, I don't think I can hold a good enough real job to survive with ASD. I'm just trading stocks right now and barely making it because the SEC limits traders if you're not already rich. I'm really awkward socially, I don't have any friends because of it and most people turn me down for a job for the same reason. I have $75k in student loans that is becoming more and more toxic every month; I shouldn't have gone to school if I would have known I had this. I'm pretty much forced to get diagnosed now.
Here is a video of the main stim I do. I enjoy doing it while pacing, and do a few weird arm and head movements that I don't know how to describe at the same time too.

I've been open to this being schizophrenia or something other than ASD but it seems like ASD to me.

Hi again.
Your stim resembles a few of mine.
Have you taken either one of these tests?
http://www.piepalace.ca/blog/asperger-test-aq-test/
http://www.rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php
Neither is conclusive, of course, but I would suggest taking both and then bringing the results to a formal evaluation, if you get one. Others have said that they are good starting points for doctors.
If you are having problems due to what you think is an ASD (and I'd be inclined to agree with you, from what you've described and the video of your stim, though I cannot diagnose you), then I'd say you should definitely get a formal diagnosis so you can get some help/aid with coping with daily life.
Understand, however, that being unable to get a job may not just be due to your having an ASD or some other condition (unless you have been given specific reasons by people who have chosen to not hire you). The economy is still causing many people problems. I know some so-called "normal" people who lost their jobs over a year ago and STILL can't get re-hired.
I'm not trying to minimize your difficulties, mind you--just offering some perspective on the "job" issue.
Anyway, my advice would be to take those two tests and go from there. I hope you find a doctor who actually knows what he/she is talking about. Unfortunately (from what others on here have said), there can be many incompetent ones versus a few good ones. The trick is finding the good ones.
Good luck, and welcome to WP, btw.

Appreciate your logical thinking. I have a bachelors of science in psychology and believe the things I'm doing are autistic-like as well. Socially I'm very awkward and it's like people don't even listen to what I'm saying even though I'm 100% right most of the time. I'm just not there socially, and no one is going to hire that. My student loan is toxic.
I'll take those 2 tests you mentioned and show the results when I get to see a doctor under medicaid. All the tests I've taken before indicate that I'm on the spectrum, but I don't care about the test results, I just don't think it's normal to flick your fingers incessantly, or pace incessantly, or occasionally repeat the sentence that someone just told you.

I have a B.S. in Psychobiology. However, most of what I know about autism I've studied on my own--my classes didn't discuss it much.
Best of luck finding someone to evaluate you properly. Let us know what happens.
Take care.

Been studying it off and on on my own too. Didn't matter when I was 15, everything was taken care of so I didn't care if I was diagnosed, but it's affecting me now. It really does cause problems. People think it's really weird when I stim, but I can't help it. Few people feel comfortable around that.
