Evening everyone.
I'm just stopping by to introduce myself and say Hi!. I'm from the South (of the US), so we're supposed to be friendly.
Here's my quick story. I'm in my late, LATE 30's (like, I just turned 40 this year!:)), and my step son is learning disabled - strong math and weak reading/writing. Well, we were working to get him into a school that specializes in this, and of course he went through testing of various methods.
Oh, I'm an engineer. Currently a SALES engineer, so I'm actually pretty good with people one-on-one.
Anyway, in our education, we began reading more and more about Asperger's, I found that _I_ met many (many) of the personality traits. Unfortunately, my wife agreed.
When I was growing up, there was no such diagnosis. At best, I'd have a VERY mild case of it, and many things you learn over time that people don't appreciate it and you have to be conscious of it. Like, when I get rolling on a subject, I will NOT stop. If I'm interrupted, I will wait until it's my turn and drag everyone back to the topic. I am complelled to finish my statements.
I stumbled on these forums, and hope to both contribute and continue to learn.
Talk with you all soon.
JP
