is autism and aspergers the same thing?

Hi I know i might be a bit of a stupid question but I have herd my mum sating I am Autistic but when I got my diagnosis it said aspergers and the interet is not much help and I dont like talking about it to my mum but I am confussed about the two,,thanks,:)

Asperger's is a type of autism, but high functioning autism (also a type of autism) is the same as Asperger's.

It's all very confusing, I know
