Once in awhile, out of nowhere, somebody will turn to me and curiously ask if I've ever had a girl friend, or if I'm a virgin. Seriously, what the f**k, do I actually look like somebody who would have never been with anybody? This is on the social board, because it doesn't really have to do with dating.

Because they want to be able to come up with something that can shut you up at any time.

My best friend said I should have sex with our friend's sister, because I can beat anything he says for the rest of his life. "Yeah, but I boned your sister" She liked me, sure, but it was more of a funny thought than a reality.

it depends. are they girls?
then they probably find you attractive in a virginal, nerdy sort of way and have sex on their minds. with you.
if they're guys they are probably teasing you because they think you look like someone who doesn't get around much with the ladies.

these are the main reasons why people get asked these things frequently.

People used to ask me that, I think it's because I wasn't showing the standard signs of interest towards the women around us; this was mainly at work.

I hate that people even feel the need to ask this. Why the hell is virginity an open and jokey thing?? For me it would be the rarest and most epic thing in my life, not something that people casually laugh about

See also; asking if you're gay.

Asking if you have a girlfriend is a standard, perfectly polite question. It's like asking if you're married or single. It's also not specifically a sexual question. It's when people need to know the reasons why you're single that it gets to be a personal question, and none of people's business. Asking if you're a virgin on the other hand... people who feel the need to ask this question are oafs.

Asking if you have a girlfriend isn't an unreasonable question, as long as it isn't asked in a condescending way.

This is true. Depends on the girls though. Some of them will ask for the same reason as the guys.

I know you're not doing this to make me feel any better, but it's probably the truth. That's what I think too- I come across as polite, clean cut straight edge guy. And it's usually girls that seem to be overly interested in me, so yeah. Of course, asking me if I've EVER had one is an insult, even if they didn't intend it to be.

When it's the guys, they don't seem out to mess with my head, they just seem tentatively curious.

Here are the following likely reasons:

1) They are trying to tease you.

2) They are trying to analyze you or judge you.

3) He or she might want to know what your sexual orientation is.

4) He or she might be interested in you and is trying to see if you are "datable material".

They are being rude and really it's none of their effing business. Its frustrating that 99.99% of the population just assumes that every single non-gay person on the planet wants to mate/reproduce with someone of the opposite sex.

I do. The problem is, that's all I wanna do, and after that I'm done with them, so what's the point of being in a relationship?

If a girl asks if you are a virgin, it means she is thinking about you in a sexual way, and that's half the battle when it comes to women. Even if you aren't trying to have sex with her, she isn't going to try and be friends with a guy she is not interested in sexually, even if she doesn't realize it.

It's a bit of a personal question really. The answer is none of their business.

techn0teen and marshall are both right.

People that were my acquaintances would ask me this (in high school), but it still wasn't really any of their business.
