Often it's not as black and white as 'smart' and 'dumb'; people can be smart in some situations (say, negotiation at work) and awful when it comes to others (i.e. not falling for advertising ploys), and a lot of it just has to do with experience.

Understood. However, I am kind of looking for a black and white answer.....

Just wanted everyone's overall impression of my intellect. Can I increase it somehow.

Depends on the area. You might be informed in areas A, B, and C, but not in area D. I guess what you are getting at is that in the areas you would like to be proficient, you aren't. Which areas are those?

There isn't one.

Intelligence isn't a black and white subject. People can't even agree on what it is, let alone begin to measure it. If you really want a concrete (if fallible) measure of your intellect, just do one of those online IQ tests.

Are you aiming to increase their impression of you, or increase your actual intellect? I'm not trying to be smart; they're two different things.

A common tactic here seems to be to substitute complicated words for normal ones at every opportunity. This doesn't really work. Being polite and aknowledging others rights to different views, and strengths in different fields will gain you far more respect.

As for increasing your intellect, as I said before, experience counts for a lot of day to day 'intelligence'. You can get books or buy those mind- training games for the ds which claim to 'train your brain'. Just reading in general probably has the same effect though.

If you were smart maybe you've have the capacity to narrow down your question into something more intelligible as something as vague as this.

LOL j/k. Seriously though, it's so vague you're not gonna get a straight answer. Plus intelligence is such a squirrely issue that you can't expect a cut and dried answer for something so subjective.

i seriously don't think that it's what they are doing! it really might help if you told us why you think that you are dumb. What makes people dumb or smart in your opinion? i don't think we can possibly answer your question until we know "what kind of" smart is lacking in you, in your opinion. Do you think you lack logic? knowledge? what is it?

What concepts? Everyone has trouble understanding some things & especially if they are not taught in a way that suits them.

You don't come across as the smartest crayon in the box, is what I think. You don't come across as the dumbest either, though--you're just sitting there somewhere in-between.

Your seeming lack of "intelligence" has nothing to do with your IQ or your inability to understand calculus or rocket science, you just don't seem to have enough life experience to be as insightful as you could've been.

My advice would be to go outside more often. Ride a roller coaster, watch the sun rise, drink something from Starbucks without knowing what's in it, meet people, and see the world. You should also read a lot of books, but don't do it in an attempt to be smarter but because you actually enjoy it.

I also think when you can take what you do seriously without taking yourself seriously, that's when you can consider yourself pretty smart.

That's what I get at work a lot. That I am of average intellect. I am also average looking. Everything about me is average....everything even you know....
Well, this is not the adult forum

Only stats that are:

-body type. I am slightly above average in terms of build

-Job. I have a job that would be considered a 3/10 on a scale of 1-10

You're saying that to a guy named menintights, are you sure you swing that way? :P

He's right though, it's best to generally experience things rather than be sheltered in some ivory tower.

Well, you did spell your own nick wrong... But jokes aside; Intelligence is overrated. No matter the level of intelligence, you aren't any closer to (or further away from) experiencing happiness.

When that has been said, there is no way any of us could rate anybody's level of intelligence accurately anyway. Even when our communication solely consists of airing our innermost thoughts and feelings.

A topic which I find is a little more interesting to discuss (because it is at all possible to reach any sort of conclusion), is our respective individual level and type of experience and perspective.

Only inexperienced people want to compare intelligence. ;)
