[b]Hey, all. I'm new here. I'm 32 years old and will be upfront about the fact that I have never been diagnosed with Asperger's. I'm not going to consider myself self-diagnosed, just suspicious. I have no problem with anyone who diagnoses themselves with something, though. Sometimes you just know. I'm here because I do seem to have alot of the traits involved and am considering getting tested/pursuing a diagnosis if it is feasible. I did take some of the online tests and I scored a 35 on the AQ and a 147 Aspie, 69 NT on the "Aspie-Quiz".
I'm actually diagnosed Bipolar II and my psychiatrist wanted to test me for ADD and, I know alot of jokes could be made from this, I keep forgetting to fill out and turn in the initial survey she gave me for that. I've always had a little bit of doubt about my original diagnosis of BPD and the more I've learned about AS, the more I feel it seems to describe me and my history much better than a mood disorder.
Suspicious traits include:
-Tendency to panic/melt down when plans are changed or routine disrupted
-Easy to overwhelm and frustration
-Major lone wolf, prefer to do most things alone, need alot of recoup after socialization
-Not at ease in most social situations, will often drink too much simply to loosen up
-Have only one very close friend and have a history of difficulty making and keeping friends
-Very easily startled, quick to sensory overload
-History of being told by coworkers that I take things too literally and am often short, stiff, and arrogant with clients (thought because of my diligence and detail orientation, I'm in a supervisory position. Love my company and many of my coworkers, but find customer service work almost unbearable much of the time
-Tendency towards obsessive interests and behavior. Often prefer to watch the same favorite movies and read the same favorite books over and over instead of trying new ones. Order the same meals every time at restaraunts, etc.
-Not interested in superficial people or most small talk. Gossip can be interesting, but it needs to be really juicy and not mean-spirited.
-Honest to an extreme.
-Absolutely cannot process most verbal instruction. I NEED to be hands-on to learn anything. Interesting because I'm a motormouth and a writer- a very verbally-oriented person. I just can't learn that way.
-Will check out mentally from anything I'm not interested in.
-Am a complete grammar and fact policewoman. My mind is a fact trap and won't let anything go. I'm great at trivia!
There's more, but I've already gone on too long.
Hope to meet you.
