I have a terrible problem with never feeling full. If I am left to eat what i want which I did once, it was so awful I ate as if I had some kind of bulimia. Which I do not.

I am wondering if anyone else has trouble with appetite regulation?

But I ate and ate mostly cereal and crunchy stuff. I almost never register feeling satiated.

I can only eat about 5 foods because of this and because I have sensitivities that are very bad. I can only eat fish, veggies and rice cakes. I never eat dairy cannot eat grains, cannot eat fruit, cannot drink anything but water and selzter......

It is only since i began to do research was was dxed later in life that I began to wonder if these bizarre food issues are not "just me" but may have neuro component link to my aut? (Aut NOS)

(I have had neuro exams and they are "normal" so it is nothing that can be seen. )

So I am more asking if anyone has a problem with appetite regulation more than just eating weird foods.

YES! I have had this problem since I was little. I think I read something about how some people on the autism spectrum have problems with the part of the brain that registers fullness because it is not working properly. I am not totally sure on this but I will try and look it up again. I was going to start a thread on this and I am glad you did!

I'm the opposite. I never feel hungry unless I am starving. I go from nothing to starving. Then I get full quickly and as a child I used to just eat eat eat because I didn't know when to stop and this be at buffets, Thanksgiving, whenever there was lot of food to eat. Then I would get sick and feel like throwing up and make that same mistake again. Now as an adult I have gotten better at controlling it by not eat eat eat when there is lot of food. I used to eat till I felt sick or got tired of the taste of the food. To me, that was full. I guess I have always had food issues my whole life even though I ate almost anything that was given to me and the fact I have always loved candy and sweets and would eat it nonetheless or just eat when I am bored and often my mom didn't allow it so she always said no.

I eat very little, I've been having more problems with the texture of food, which causes me not to eat.

My son had the problem you mention with not feeling satiated. He would regularly eat himself sick if we didn't strictly control his portions and access to food. His OT found (among other things) that he had an abnormal tendon guard reflex, which is involved in fight-or-flight responses and helps regulate the balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous response. Working on integrating this reflex really improved his ability to regulate his food intake on his own. I still remember when the reflex first started to normalize - my son came out of his room, a little worried, and told me "Mom, something is weird- my stomach doesn't hurt, but I'm not hungry."

Wow I feel the same! I feel full however I will still go and eat and it's really depressing me! I had an eating disorder 2 years ago and thought I was fat but now I wish I was that size again (though I am not much bigger if at all apparently but I defo see it). I just never feel like I've had enough and once I have something I want something else. It takes often too much will power to resist.

I also have problems with lots of food that make me bloat and uncomfortable for hours that has only just started. Yet I never learn and still eat many of the things.
