So i'm starting into an anime obsession. I watched all of the dragon balls when i was younger and i just finished Ghost Shell and am starting Darker Than Black. Can anyone reccomend some decent plot driven Animes?

plot driven...

I personally loved Darker then BLACK. Hope you are enjoying it.

as for others...

Id check out the gundam series'... although personally I would avoid Seed and seed/destiny. I would watch Gundam wing, gundam 00, and Stardust memory ASAP, they are the best in my opinion.

Go check out Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagaan and Code Geass while you are at it as well.

Other stuff... lets see...

Outlaw Star
Noein
Gasaraki
The Big O (you will love this if you love Batman)
Cowboy Bebop

 Who the Hell do you think I am!
Perhaps Fairy Tail might be up your alley, it is kind of the hotest Shounen anime at the moment (that is the genre Dragonball fits into), it is a big fantasy series. opening song

Full Metal Panic series is kind of semi-futureistic, kind of switches between millitary and school life comedy (sounds like a bad idea but works). Trailer

Spice and Wolf can be a good choice, it is pretty plot driven anime, and it does it well enough that it makes medievil economics very interesting. The dialogue is pretty brilliant, granted this not a series that you can just lay back and have the plot spelt out to you, you will have to pay attention, and a big problem will come in the shape of plot rather then some violent thug. Trailer (english)

There is always Death Note, very good but gets recomended so often. Maybe Durarara, kind of feels fresher, it is a kind of mystery plot driven story. Opening song

Tell you what, check out the recently finished Shinryaku! Ika Musume (Invade! Squid Girl), the plot sounds absolutly insane and like it won't work, but is very good, probably one of the best this year. It is a comedy and the plot might sound a bit crazy, especially since you asked for a plot driven anime, but quite a few people have come to the opinion that it is not the kind of show they will enjoy, then boast about how much they enjoyed it out of just curiousity, absolutly hillarious show. Opening song

Also recomend Ika Musume is that since you are just begining I recomend trying out different shows as you can be surprised what genre you might enjoy, I really never thought that I would like some of my favourite genres when I started a couple years back.

Eureka Seven
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Last Exile
Fullmetal Alchemist
Kimi ni Todoke

...and if you're in the mood for a completely surreal piece of abstract expressionist absurdity with psychosexual analytical undertones, watch FLCL.

I just finished watching Eden of the East, and loved every minute of it.

Along with that, I can recommend, other than what's already been suggested:

Requiem For The Phantom
Planetes
Kaze no Stigma
Outlaw Star
Mars Daybreak

Wolf's Rain

It's one of the few animes that I can stomach(I hate how shallow and unoriginal most anime is. I blame it and videogames for the degeneration of the nerd subculture) and the dub is great which is a rarity among anime. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world and is about 4 wolves that can trick people into thinking they're people(in this world, wolves are sentient beings capable of mental manipulation). They're searching for a place called paradise.

I really like the one with the people who have giant sparkly eyes and high-pitched voices. One even has blue hair! Can you believe it?!
