Well, I haven't had the EXACT problem, but I've had friends that don't believe I'm on the autism spectrum because I have learned enough social skills to get by. I just explain that I do still have traits that are on the spectrum, even though I don't have full-blown autism. I was diagnosed with PPD-NOS though. Ask your psychiatrist if he or she has heard of the ADOS or know someone that can administer it. It's a measure of autistic traits & is very good & reliable. Also, there's some Aspergers behavioral checklists that can be filled out by friends & family.
Same here. Friends who don't know anything about autism have tried to "undiagnose" me before. LOL
