A new label that I got on top of my old one. Basically, it's been getting worse lately where I have terrible thoughts. For example, if someone is late, I think they died. Or afraid to listen to my mp3 player because I might not hear a fire alarm (they are not very loud in this building).

I dunno, wondering if anyone else here got like this.

Isn't that just generalized anxiety disorder?

If I hear a noise from somebody in another room I can't identify I think they are choking. If I see someone on a ladder I think of them falling and dying, bloody. If somebody is late they were in a car crash. etc etc

Oh definately. I am in a constant state of anxiety, even in my sleep. I have never been able to shut if off.
They call it GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) to me. I didn't know there was a anxiety-NOS. I wonder what the difference is? Did your doctor explain the difference? I'd be interested.

NOS just means "not otherwise specified." You can probably diagnose anything NOS if it's clear it's a condition but doesn't fit the criteria for an established condition, or if you aren't sure yet whether it fits.

I have a diagnosis of depressive disorder - not otherwise specified that is probably actually major depressive disorder, but my therapist wants to be cautious without more information.

I have a good deal of anxiety troubles that I've yet to really address with my psychiatrist, but I can relate to this thread a lot. I just thought I developed unfavorable habits from my mother. :?

If someone is late or no-show, I feel they've either been in a terrible accident or they hate me. If they've been in an accident it's my fault because they were on their way to see me. What if they hate me? Well I'm simply no good to the world and I'm gonna go hide under a blanket now.

I don't listen to my iPod in public for fear of not hearing screams or alarms.

I guess what I'm saying is I understand what you're feeling.
