So, only some of this may apply to the males here, but if you're in a cold enough climate there are things like long johns, socks, etc, or just plain skinny jeans can have the same problem.

I'm getting really sick of not being able to wear long socks/stockings/tights because of my sensory issues. I've never been able to stand socks, and while I love the look of long socks/etc, they drive my senses nuts. It's a mixture of the tightness and the texture. Has anyone found any ways around this? I'm sick of not being able to wear skirts and dresses (it's too cold for bare legs!), especially since they're better for my sensory stuff.

The only thing that helps me is wearing clothing a bit loose. I hate the sensation of tight jeans and long socks.
The more girly clothes are uncomfortable for more than tactile reasons.

I used to have some long bicycling "shorts" that I'd sometimes use as long johns under regular pants. They were made of spandex or something like that. I seem to ok with clothing as long as it's all skin-tight or all loose. It's when clothing has areas that are loose and other areas that are tight or binding that bothers me the most.

I guess everyone's different. I actually LIKE the feel of tighter pants or socks/tights because it keeps me from feeling the fabric of dresses/etc swishing against my legs--- I hate that feeling. It's kind of a protective feeling wearing long socks. Loose pants with no long socks underneath or a dress with no stockings/tights make that swishing/rubbing feeling... yuck!! !! !

What a variety of sensory issues. I am loving the cotton/spandex leggings I got for Christmas, because they provide a deep, constant pressure over my body, which I adore. It's soothing, and the fabric is soft.

I love the pressure from wearing tights but the material leaves my legs itching.

I've never really liked socks. I used to wear them, but they always drove me up the wall.

My boot socks are over the calf socks and I'm mildly indifferent. I don't enjoy them per se, but they don't bother me. That being said, I hate pants that are anything close to tight.

IF I can get away with it I wear as little as possible. When I have to wear anything its the loosest, softest clothing, like cotton jogging pants. Some synthetic fabric just feels 'toxic' to me for no particular reason. I've been thinking of going Scottish and wearing a kilt. lol. My socks are the shortest I can get away with and not have my feet stink. Don't think I would like tights just because of their nature.

I hated tights as a kid but wore them anyway. I hated them because it would feel like they were falling down and one time I got accused of pulling up my dress on the bus when all I was doing was pulling up my tights so I wouldn't feel my skin touching each other right below my crotch. My dress must have lifted up as I was doing it so my underwear was showing and they all thought I lifted up my dress. Then I started to wear shorts under it and wearing a bigger size helps. It's been a while now since I have worn tights.

I never had a problem with socks, I used to wear them pulled up because I couldn't stand them being folded down and I can't stand to go bare foot because I don't like the feeling on my bare feet from the floor.

I also wear shorts under my dresses when I wear them. I find it easier and I don't have to worry about my skin touching each other and having to sit a certain way.

I wear cotton mostly and knit. Lot of my clothes are loose but I still have some tight clothes like jeans. There is some fabric I can't stand so I don't wear it. I used to hate tight clothing as a child but yet I wore stretch pants. Aren't those tight?

Then by my teens I didn't have as many sensory issues thanks to therapy I was given. Now I say they're minor.

That feling you're mentionning is so vivid in my memory ! Andi haven't worn tights in something like 10 years. But the one you mention, is about childhood, when you outgrow your tights and have to pull them up because the legs are too short. I'm wondering, had i worn only correctly fitting tights as a child, if i would still hate them now, or if i would give them a try. That feeling is terrible lol, they pull your butt down, they pull on your toes, they stick to your knees when you try to pull them up, gosh.

I'm more or less ok with regards to this matter, but my GF has a few (female) Asipe and ADHD mates and I've seen that they often wear that this kind of stuff.

I don't mind, but I'm sure that some of them they have great legs under them.

Sorry to go a little off topic but, what is it with AS girls and leggings????

Not too off-topic - again, it could be a sensory issue - if they prefer the feel of something close to their skin and tight rather than fabrics swishing/moving against their legs and skin.

Personally, I tend to like the swishing feeling of a skirt, but as it's cold, end up with over-the-knee socks (I can't wear tights as I don't like the feeling of them falling down, like those above!) which keep my legs warm, but don't have falling-down-on-the-crotch-issues! :P

I've had so many sensory issues with my legs (including an allergy to all washing powders and liquids other than 1) that I will now just try to ignore them otherwise I'd never do anything else!
I will admit this is very difficult - I used to make them bleed when I scratched them (including in my sleep) and dreamed happy dreams of scratching them with a cheese-grater just to stop the weird tingly sensations on them which is 24-7 and pretty much regardless of what I wear... :(

Of course, now that I'm talking about them... itch, tingle, itch, tingle!! ! *shudder*

Crotch-ety topic

The hanging crotch was always a big problem in the old days before the space age fabric miracle. I used to wear a pair of cut off panty hose to hold up hose that was a let down. I still do this if an old pair starts feeling droopy. I still have that sensory issue. :P

I had to wear tights as a kid as girls were not allowed to wear trousers to school, unless the girl was some sort of jock. Lucky her.

Jeans that are tight around the waist, thighs and derriere are forgiving for may of us who are a bit more loose skinned due to aging. Gives us that smooth look ( but not for overweight people though, as there is the problem with 'muffin top' syndrome)!

I have an extreme problem with the nylon fabric of standard women's stockings and tights. I can't bear to touch them, let alone wear them. If I even look too long at them on someone else, I start to get a slightly sick feeling.

I love socks and always look for ones with cute patterns. :D

I love buying and collecting socks--I just don't like wearing them!

Any tight fitting clothes, I hate them. Fitted clothes, meaning fitted to the shape of my body, yes, but tight fitting, no. If they are made of natural fibers it's not as bad as synthetic fiber, but i still prefer to not wear tight fitting clothe at all.
