I have this thing where I cannot listen to a different song after I get into a certain song. I have to keep playing it over and over again. Sometimes it's the same artist, and I cannot listen to a different one. I think it is my resistance to change, in order for me to listen to anything different, I need to stop listing to music until I forget about it, and then listen to a different artist. If I don't, I get this weird feeling in my head and I instantly take off my headphones and do anything from there. This happens if I am listing to a certain song I absolutely love.

I am listening to Soul on Fire by H.I.M.

I have been listening to it for 3 hours.

Anyone do this?

Not for three hours at a time, but I do tend to get stuck on listening to one song.

I get stuck on songs, on entire cds.

I used to get stuck on books, and would read the same books over and over again.

i didn't listen much to music in my life, but now i am extremely sad and it seems that music can help me somehow. Thats a pretty new experience for me (i am 29 now).

And yes i listn often just to one single song, this calms me abit, it floods my conciousness, it stops my tought-loops, thats relieving.

Big time.

Currently, it is Cee Lo Green's "F*** you!" and "Crazy." I will hear a song in a commercial, movie, or whatever and I will essentially loop it for days. I don't really have control over what song will scratch an itch, but it's gone from Wagner to Gangster Rap overnight at times.

I still read the same books over and over and over again. Most times because I have a visual memory, I just go to my favorite chapters.

And I do get stuck on songs and can't get them out.

I'll listen to one song for a good whole half month.

Well, it depends. Some people just like listening to the same song.
For other people, and myself, there's comfort in familiarity and fascination.
I mean ,if everyone was on the Autism Spectrum for listening to the same song over and over, Lady Gaga would be causing an Autistic Explosion so don't worry mate.

It amazes me how long I can feel like a song I'm listening to is "new". In the past 3 years I've played only 5 songs over and over on my ipod. The "newest" one is almost a year old and I still have a sense of unease with it.

I totally do this too. I've listened to Hungarian rhapsody for like 8 hours straight before.

Also, I don't know if it is just me, but I over analyze music, I do not hear it all as a mix, but I hear that ever instrument has it's own beat, and focus on that instead.

If I lsiten to a song over and over it's more often for half and hour or an hour straight. I've gone a couple hours before. Maybe 3.
I've been switching between listening to The Ghost of Tom Joad and Alanatic City by Bruce Springsteen again and again on the bus lately.
Sometime the song helps play out the same feeling, I guess.
I often get stuck on one or two particular songs at a time.

I found it interesting in that ADDers can do the same.
