Has WP ever considered the idea of a parenting forum? The "Parent's Discussion" forum is great but seems to be aimed at parenting AS children. I think that it could be very helpful to have an area dedicated to Aspie parents that can focus on the unique problems this causes as well as shed some light on the AS coping strategies that are unique to parenting.

I must agree with you on this.

I most definitely agree that this would be an excellent idea!

I've noticed that threads about parenting with AS are usually posted in In-Depth Adult life discussion, although that section is about adult life in general.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this is a good idea. The "in-depth" forum might currently contain some of these discussions but they are overwhelmingly diluted by other topics and the current request that users be "older" may dissuade some people from contributing.

I hope someone from WP can weigh in.

Bumping in hopes of attention from someone from WP who can weigh in.

I think it's a great idea. Right now I rely on Babycenter. If I have a parenting question, just go there and ask lol. Or ask in the facebook group I am in.

I think it's a nice idea, even though I clearly don't have kids. :P

I like the idea! I wish you had made this a poll!

"Aspie Parent's Forum" by line: "For parents who ARE Aspie dealing with raising NT kids, Aspie kids, or both."

It's a good idea because the existing forum seems to be mostly populated with NT parents raising Aspie kids.

As an Aspie PARENT raising three kids on the spectrum I know for a certainty there are dynamics involved with this unique relationship that NO NT could possibly understand or empathize with.

The question is whether there are enough of us who would be willing to be active enough in it to justify its existence.

I just hope that if the thread gets long enough someone from WP will check it out. I had thought this was a monitored forum for questions and comments regarding the site, but it has been 8 days now so maybe not.

Thanks for all the support for the idea thus far :)

I agree. An Aspie Parents forum would help focus issues that aren't "Parents with Aspie Kids."

I fit categories both by the way.

The Mods are often too busy dealing with squabbling. They usually do pipe in sooner or later if the threads here are kept alive long enough.

Chances are, they will, I think. I thought this was a complaint about the existing forum at first. If a Mod sees it and thinks the same, they are pretty likely, I think, to check it out and maybe put their two cents in once they see what it's really about.
