So on top of having As and ADD I now have 5 slipped discs in my back aswell. So now I can barely lift anything, do anything, can't bend, cant do a thing. My 16 year old AS son who btw claims to have a germ phobia and wont shake hands or touch anything in public is quite happy to live in this mess of a house,
The ---- really hit the fan today when i got up and found maggots on my kitchen sink.

I was getting respite thank God but it was only for a month, does anyone here know if there is any help available for this mess I'm in?

Had a family member say i should go into a nursing home. Im on my mid 40's.

This just sucks. I know if I was NT I'd probably have a whole group of friends come and give me support and help but having lots of friends does'nt happen when you have AS. I am really so depressed and have had suicidal thoughts. :(

I would try to begin there. As best you can, show him how things need to be so the two of you can live in a healthy environment.

Everytime i ask him to do anything he just rolls his eyes and gives me attitude, i mean he does it EVERYTIME!
I always use to say that aspies DO have empathy but the lack of empathy is alive and well in this house.

How long will you be out of commission? Do you have any other family members that could help you? Maybe you could psych out your son by telling him the more he lets stuff go, the more disgusting germs and maggots will enter the house. So he should clean up straight away.

Kiseki, thats a great idea I never even thought of that. I might start googling all kinds of diseases you can get if your house is putrid, like ours is atm.

Oh yes I have had family members and others say they will help me but its the typical NT speak of saying things they don't mean. Oh well

I have no idea how long I will be like this my Dr said it could take up to 6 months. Although any heavy lifting i think I will never be able to do.

Haha! Glad to help (maybe). I know I have OCPD myself, so I cannot stand messy places. I don't understand why a germ phobic would not clean up.
