http://www.naturalnews.com/031280_acai_ ... _scam.html

The "1 weird old tip for a tiny belly" ads that appear on WrongPlanet and other websites are a scam! As noted by this blogger, the "$3.87 shipping fee" magically turns into a $149.95 "membership fee" and a "monthly membership charge" of at LEAST $12.95-IF you're lucky, some people have been charged as much as $95 a month! The ONLY WAY to stop the charges is to cancel your card. The "acai berry" in these pills is simply dyed SUGAR. Alex, these ads are FRAUDULENT, and you MUST remove them from WP IMMEDIATELY! Aspies can sometimes be trusting, and I've read of at least one WP member who got caught up in this. She was apparently getting charged at least $100 a month on her card! BEWARE of the acai berry ads.

I am moving this to WP.net forum where it can be seen by those who can address it.

Thanks.

I was just going to mention that and to think that I've almost fell for those ads two months ago.

Don't click on the ads then.

Problem solved. That isn't a "scam" either, if you choose the trial and don't cancel it continues with the automatic payment. It's upto you to cancel. If they don't cancel when you ask, THEN its a scam.

How do you know it's dyed sugar?
And he doesn't have control over what CPA ads show.

I don't think we need a thread telling us that berry weight loss drugs from weird websites are a scam, and anyone who does deserves to be scammed.

As for the ads showing on WP, Alex could easily stop certain ones from showing, but I've heard those acai berry ones are among the highest paying, so I don't see him taking them down any time soon.

Yeah, anything that's "one great tip for losing weight!" or something that isn't "talk to your doctor about constructing a plan" is general going to be bull.

You do know that anyone can actually lose weight for free rather than paying a huge bill that would most likely fail or not go too well?

Just don't click the ads, block it with adblock. ;)

I want to let others know how to get a tinier belly without BooBerries:

Avoid fast food, added salt, and lathering you bread/toast with extra butter/margarine.

Measure servings. Portion control is important to maintain correct amounts of food.

Ride an exercise bike for 30 minutes per day.

Eat a healthy breakfast as soon as you get up. I eat a bowl of cereal, with a cut up banana, juice and two coffees (to wake me up!!)

Cut meat consumption to three servings per week.

If you must snack, eat fruit or vegetables.

Treat yourself to a dark chocolate bar or healthy home baked cookies (I like oatmeal raisin) periodically, and then do some extra exercise to burn the extra calories.

All this works. Believe me, I follow it and have NEVER had a big belly. :D

Nowadays, people simply eat far more than they burn off. Balance intake with ougo and your weight will not fluctuate.

BooBerries? Is that what acai is being called now, informally? I like it! The mysterious berry that nobody has ever seen but which everybody recommends as the newest "superfood". Let me tell you what Superfood is. Superfood is just a granola bar with some chemicals in it, the same type used to make fake berries in kids' cereals, that are sold via multi-level marketing (pyramid schemes). Since they aren't sold in stores, they are not required to list their ingredients. The lack of regulation means that pretty much anything goes.

Sometimes, you don't even get a product, just a recurring hefty charge on your credit card. That's the way Melaleuca works. They will send you ONE tiny bar of soap and ONE tiny bottle of shampoo, hotel size, and will keep charging your card. The acai berry people don't even bother to do that much, they just want to steal your card number and transfer your credit to their bank account.

People have enough problems making it without every scammer in the world demanding your money in addition to all the other things demanding your money that are legit, like rent and electricity. The scammers are starting to cannibalize each other (well, not literally, unless maybe they're from Nigeria). There are so many scams out there that there's not enough money to go around. The scammers are beating each other up trying to get a shrinking pool of dollars. Just wait until the REAL economic collapse happens!

Apples and oranges topic

Asperger's is not a disease. Obesity is. Do not give the scammers ideas, or they will be marketing the Fakeberries thing to convince others to do what you suggested.

My ideas for weight loss and weight maintenance are the same as WeightWatchers. There are no secrets to keeping healthy, and no reason to fall for a scam. Being AS is not the same as being obese. And do eat more apples and oranges. They are good for you, and feeling better about your body is one way of understanding your AS in a positive way. 8)

I was merely commenting on how people love to give out advise to people and think everything is so easy. For many following those directions are about as impossible as following the ones I gave. Need to lose weight and having a hard time see your doctor and work out a plan you can follow is my advise

QFT

The simple fact that I can't stand the taste of fast food and soda drinks, cook everything from scratch and never had a "sweet tooth" led to the fact that I never had to worry about my diet. Add to this being reasonably active and as a result I'm still the same size I was in high school.

I think more serious problems occur once you put on a significant amount of weight and at least for some that can be very hard to loose. Everybody and parents in particular would benefit from a better education meant to prevent these problems.

ScAd revisited topic

I just wanted to respond again to the problem of this scamvertizing, to remind people this one is a joke.

This is a topic worthy of PPR. Whose berries are better, and should it be a religion, philosophy or a science?

I'll move the thread to PPR if you'd like to give it an airing there?
