I constantly have family telling me brush my hair it looks bad and such. I read Aspergirls and it seems wash and wear is what most Aspie females enjoy nothing fussy. I can't believe I forget to brush my hair LOL! I plan on getting my hair cut soon but sadly as usual my sister said I shouldn't style it since I don't do anything with it.

My personal appearance is very routine oriented. I get up, take a shower, get dressed in my "uniform" (business casual). Go to work. On days when I don't have that routine (weekends, holidays, vacation), god only knows what I'll end up looking like.

I refuse to get my hair cut shorter than shoulder-length because the shorter it is the more it needs brushing to look passably alright to others. I have worn my hair in two braids for the majority of my life. I brush it (with my fingers, mostly) after a shower and when I re-do my braids in the morning, but that's it. I dislike the feel of hair pricking my neck when the braids need re-doing so it's an easy sensory reminder to re-braid my hair. Because it stays braided, it doesn't need brushing so there is nothing to forget.

This thread is timely as I was in fact forgetting to brush my hair.

Also, I do the wash and wear. I've tried styling but I just can't keep it up on a daily, or even regular, basis.

I'm the polar opposite. I'm always brushing my hair. I think that I just like looking at myself and that's why I do it.

Haven't brushed my hair in about 6 years. It's always short. It only gets brushed at the barber's. I should buy a brush.

I always brush my hair whenever I go outside places but other than that, no.

I totally empathize.

I've gotten so dysfunctional now that I'm taking some of the advice offered by the folks in the parenting section for helping their kids-

writing and putting it on the wall:

shower
deodorant
brush hair

etc.

I'v ealways done the wash n' go thing, though...
my hair's so long that it's a real cardiovascular exercise to get a brush through it.

I minimally brush my hair. I like the organized mess look. :D

I forget to brush my hair quite often, it's not something I really care about. I thought I was the only girl who did that !

I do not brush my hair. I just wash it and flat iron parts of it minimally. And also I wash it, of course.

Brushing hair feels horrible.

I can't not brush my hair, because it's a long, frizzy mop and it drives me insane if I don't immediately put it in a ponytail.

Edit: I'm actually interpreting it wrong though, since my "brushing" does not involve a brush, just my fingers.

I don't really forget to brush my hair, if only because I basically need to shower in order for my hair to look anywhere near passable. I can't really brush it while dry unless I want a frizzy mess. I can tie it back, but it looks infinitely messier than what is usually acceptable. Sooo, I make a point of showering once a day. I don't always meet that goal, but I try.

A tip for remembering would be to have a mirror on the door of your room. Or somewhere that you're bound to look as you're on your way out. I know I've been on my way out when I realize I still have some random food stuffs on my face or that my hair looks crappy or something. Looking in the mirror is the only thing that can serve as a reminder for me.

And let's not forget other personal hygiene activities like remembering to wear deodorant or brushing your teeth. I'm guilty of forgetting those too... At least I'm trying to improve.

Likewise, apart from the business casual look. The routine extends to all days though, whatever I may be doing.

Back before I shaved my hair, I don't know if I can say whether I forgot to or didn't care to, but I would often not do anything to my hair (I am a guy).

After one day at work one of my female co-workers said "you ought to use some moose or something" I became nearly obsessed with making sure my hair was done, although I wasn't sure if what I was doing to my hair was good or not.

After shaving it, I feel liberated. My hair, the lack of style, and flip to obsession with aimlessly styling it has been an ongoing issue my entire life and a major source of stress and anxiety. Its easy to buzz it once a week. I don't know what I would do if I were female.
