Is it true that AS really gets worse with stress? Can it be different for different individuals affected with AS?

Lots of things get worse with stress. Blood pressure, anxiety, pain, migraines. Why not aspie too?

I just went through this, and yes, it does get worse.

Some of the ways it got worse seemed to help with coping, though, so not sure worse is the best word for the whole thing.

Much worse for me.

I am in about the 0.0005th percentile for stress tolerance.

If the core of AS is problems with neurological processing (IME often being unable to process FAST enough), then being in a stressful situation is only going to give you more to process.

If you were a juggler and someone kept tossing more balls into your routine, do you think the difficulty of keeping them all in the air would lessen, remain the same or become much harder to manage? Seems like simple logic to me. Nothing gets EASIER with added stress.

Mo stimuli, Mo difficulties processing.

Embrace the weird.

Seriously, you need to give up on "normal". There is you inside of you, not a normal or un-normal person. I know I am better off when I don't wish I was different, but instead put energy into finding better ways to let me be me.

Well being 'weird' is not going to get me very far in life is it? Esspecially if i want to have friends etc........

Listen its not easy thinking one minute you are normal then discovering the next that you are not it just drives you crazy.

Find weird friends.

Been there. Done that. Still doing it. Nope. It ain't easy. I do best when I don't fight with myself. I get enough grief from the "real" world. I don't need to compound it by beating myself up too.
