I added google adsense to my blog some months ago. My estimated earnings so far: two cents... :/ And we're not even talking dollars, but Swedish crowns.
As anyone here ever made any money with adsense? If so, how did you do it?

I work in online advertising.

Honestly, AdSense ads are simply contextual. Therefore the best thing you can do to make money off those is to ensure that you're contributing to your blog in a way that fits a niche.

I write a blog using statistics. I'd hope a lot of my readers would be susceptible to ads involving statistics applications like SAS, because that's often advertised on my blog.

Other than that, you'd have to do some SEO work. Link out to other sites, see if you can get sites to link into you, both driving traffic and helping improve your search engine ranking. More visitors -> More clicks -> More Revenue.

But most ads won't get over 1% Click Through Rate anyway, so if they pay $0.20 per click, you're likely looking at around 500 ad impressions / page views a day to make $1.

Ten years ago you could make big money from Adsense. Like thousands of dollars a week.

I got in towards the end of the gold rush. I used "black hat" techniques and automatic site building scripts to make hundreds of sites packed with keywords.

I would buy hundreds of dot info domain names at a time at 90 cents each.

At my peak I was making around US$2000 a month but those tricks don't work anymore.

Unless you're JC Penney, who got away w/ that throughout the 4th quarter.

I love how their "punishment" is essentially getting put back where they belong in the algorithm, but they'll keep all the extra revenue they generated via black hat SEO. Might as well keep trying to game google.
