I'm looking for an application that will automatically search the internet for lyrics for a given batch of audio files based on song title and artist tags and save the lyrics in the lyrics tag. Does anyone know any application that will do this?

The closest I've found is EvilLyrics which will do the task for a song as it is played via a media player (ie. iTunes), but will not do the task on a batch of files unless someone leaves the media player to play through all the files, one by one. Considering I have 12 days worth of audio files this is not time efficient.

MusicBrainz Picard http://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainzTagger - Rhythmbox and Banshee also mention facilities to grab lyrics and cover-art.

I have not tried it, I am still using EasyTagger.

I can't find any of the functionality I need in these programs. They're basic metadata taggers, as far as I can see.

There's the foobar2000 plugin, foo_lyricsgrabber2. Never used it myself, but you should be able to run it on a collection of files if it follows the usual foobar convention.

To put me out of my ignorance, what function do you want? I assumed "automatically search the internet for lyrics for a given batch of audio files based on song title and artist tags and save the lyrics in the lyrics tag" meant locating lyrics and adding them to the lyrics metadata tags. MusicBrainz claims to do so.

(I am not arguing, I am interested in the details).
