I take 20mg olanzapine and 10mg aripiprazole, both antipsychotics. I've been on olanzapine 20mg for over a year now so I can't remember well how I was before I went on it (except pretty ill in psych ward). But the aripiprazole.....it's helping with my negative symptoms (the olanzapine treats my positive symptoms), but ever since I went on it (two weeks ago) my hypersensitive senses have all amplified. And my stimming/tics have got worse.

Does anyone else take pscyhiatric meds that, although helping the psyhotic/depressive/obsessive/etc illness, it has made part of their autism/AS "worse" (for want of a better word as autism/AS is not necessarily a bad thing - I am quite happy being AS)?

I would be interested to know other people's experiences.

I live in france and I m on abilify ( aripriprzole) 7, 5 mg ( 5 every two days and 10 the other days) , I was also diagnosed with "dysharmonie evolutive" wich is suposed to be a french term for high functioning autism according to the psychiatry books. I also had a psicotic outbreak 2 years ago, so I m still on meds .
THe meds have not made me more strange than I was before, I just have the side effects ( vomiting, unvoluntary movements or before when I was on risperdonne I felt like I was on alcool) .And the psychiatrist says I am not desilusional anymore . So I don't think psychiatric medication is not putting more mental healt stuff but rather diminushing them.
