Hi all. Thought you might be interested in this Facebook AS Test. It's a new one.

The Test is here - http://apps.facebook.com/specastest

It's obviously not diagnostic, but I think it's a better test than others I've seen and gives an understanding of what sorts of things people on the spectrum struggle with.

Let me know what you think. :)

btw - I scored 61 out of 72 with the result that I am quite likely on the autistic spectrum. It also gives a more detailed analysis of the results here - http://apps.facebook.com/specastest/Sho ... 1299389576

I scored 70/72. The only reason I didn't get 72 was because I don't have synaesthesia (sp).

Sounds like data mining to me.

To use app you need to allow it access to all your personal data then you tell them even more personal info whereupon they tell you something you probably already knew/suspected to take test in first place.

Sounds dodgy to me.

I didn't like that aspect either and didn't do the test. I tried to Google spectatest and didn't come up with anything.

I used to think that, too, but all they really want is permission to post the results to your Wall if you choose to do so and permission to send invitations to take the test to your F-list, should you be interested in doing so, so that you can compare results with your friends. If you choose not to do either of these things after taking the quiz, you can opt out of them each specifically. It took me a while to get over that "ew, they want my information?" feeling, too.

My score was 68 out of 72.

Ans since I love to pick apart test questions...

They might appear bored, but not so much to me (that's the problem).

How can you tell if people appear bored? I just answered never to it since how am I supposed to know? If there was unsure to that answer, then I picked that then.

I don't really like tests like these because they come up with huge numbers of false posiitives, leading people who aren't autistic to claim they are or are autistic-like whne they really don't even know much about it. And I think some of the questions aren't even associated with ASD's, at least not enough to be part of a test.

Having said that I scoed 64.

I was curious about the light touch question as it is definitely a problem for me. I found this:

"Interestingly, autistics are more sensitive to light touch than heavy touch. Glancing, inconsistent, or brief skin contact sends irregular neural signals to the brain where they interfere with and over-stimulate the central nervous system. This makes it difficult to perform organized behavior or to concentrate. Massage on the other hand, utilizes deep tissue massage and joint compression, which do not send such confusing signals to the brain cortex."

from http://www.pacificcollege.edu/acupunctu ... utism.html

My immediate reaction to light touch is extreme irritation or even anger. It's so immediate that there's no intellectual processing at all. I am able to stop myself from reacting more than just jerking away however.
