"It was unclear if the eruption was linked to Friday's massive earthquake in the north. Japan's Meteorological Agency issued a warning that the Shinmoedake volcano, shown in Feb. 2011, resumed activity after lying dormant for a couple of weeks."

Well there goes Blofeld's rocket base... again. :)

I've read that's it's been erupting intermittently for the past several months. Considering it's on a different tectonic plate from the ones involved in the quake, it's a safe assumption that the eruption has little to do with the quake.

And the Japanese used to think the worst thing that could happen to them was a Godzilla or Rodan attack.

All this tectonic activity is actually Godzilla digging up from under the Japanese' feet, the worst is yet to come

Normally I would love a good Godzilla joke but the timing might not be the best... things are just still a bit to raw, for me, at least ,to appreciate any humor in this.

Granted.
But sometimes the only thing to do, other than cry or scream hysterically, is laugh.

Normally I subscribe to that opinion 100% - I'm just having a hard time adhering to that in this case. Probably because every time I turn on the tv or look at the online news it just keeps getting worse and worse... I would have preferred a Godzilla attack to this... :(

Sim City with all.....

I think it's fine to joke, kind of depends on the joke.
I haven't seen anything here that seems malicious.

That's all Japan needs right now, more troubles. :-( They already have their hands full from dealing with the earthquakes & tsunami.

If you watch Godzilla backwards its about a giant lizard who helps rebuild a half burnt down city, and then moonwalks into the ocean. The movie ends peacefully with a man fishing on a pier. :)

Anything that can go wrong in Japan, is. Next there could be a tornado, then a hurricane, then maybe a meteor or 2 to make some big craters, then a plague...
