I am usually against violence but I think the bully fully deserved it. A gray area I see because the victim put up with it and he tried to stop the bully from hitting him and doing other stuff to him and then he finally slammed him on the ground.

Maybe it's a little like the NFL, where officials tend to see the second cheap shot and penalize accordingly.

I can see both sides of it. However, being that the bigger kid was provoked by the smaller kid, I'd say he had it coming. But the smaller kid was hurt pretty bad. I doubt the bigger kid really meant to cause serious harm...just wanted to teach him a lesson.

Been there done that & also got in trouble just for defending myself. One time, I was forced to fight 3 boys, & I was only one girl. I got in a lot of trouble & none of the adults looked at the fact that the fight wasn't fair...3 against one. Seems to be that there's a fair amount of bias when it comes to bullying. Administrators are supposed to keep it from happening, but many times they often take the side of the bullies, which solves nothing nor teaches anything.

I bet the small bully will never pick on the victim again. Maybe he will never pick on big victims again fearing they may stand up for themselves and hurt him badly.

the social darwinists are just fine over letting the bullies be their enforcers of traditional social order.

And if I was his mother, I would be just fine with his actions and taken the suspension as a badge of honor. I would probably get the boy some training in how to defend himself without hurting someone too badly but the kid stood up for himself. Good for his self esteem and EXCELLENT for asserting his place in the primative pecking order that public schools encourage.

I'd make sure the school realized it could have been avoided completely if they had been advocating for the boy. If they aren't able to be the controlling force, then a kid has the right to defend himself.

When I was in middle school I fought back against a bully. So what happened? I got put in "in school suspension", IN THE SAME ROOM AS HIM. The school system was a goddamn joke back then, and it's a goddamn joke now.

Ah c'mon.. the little s**t blatently started it! He even punched the other one first! The other one didn't retaliate for at least the first 4 blows...

That clip of him dropping the bully on his head though.. sweet! Suspension would definitely be worth that!

(by the way, what's up with all those kids just standing around, videoing it... )

He was reacting to violence. The bully should have known better.

Anger like that can only be born, (particularly in a child of that age) out of consistent harrassment/bullying.

The bully punched him in the face TWICE, then intimidated him and prevented him from moving...........what else could he possibly have done? AND they were filming it 8O

Perhaps his family taught him (physically), how to defend himself not realising how strong he really is.

But, although it's violent and shouldn't be condoned, I'd defend the victim.

Do you know whether the principal of the school saw the video?

My son finally fought back and was suspended for one day. It was worth it.

Sorry, I don't mean to be sexist, but it will probably seem so (I'm female myself!).

But a full blown 'fight', 3 boys against one girl?
Doesn't seem 'fair' in the slightest; 3 boys against one boy is bad enough.

The body slam on cement and the wood edge was dangerous. When I defended myself from these types of pathological kook balls I did so for effect. To suspend in the air and soft slam and to knock the wind out of. Never going to far or risking bent limbs like bones. Crazy folks. That big guy could have just sat on that little monkey. The big guy could have ended up in jail for a long time if it was the kids head.

Watched the video and the cocky little sh!t got his brain box rattled like he deserved!
It was clearly a well provoked counter-attack and possibly even a self defense argument could be made.
The reality of it is, like some have already said, that society looks the other way when it comes to bullying and they'd rather burn the victim for fighting back.
The only way to get around it is not to come off as a soft target but that is easier said than done in a lot of cases......................unfortunately. :x
