Somehow aspies always look weird, and in turn some people may think they're effeminate because of that. I certainly don't see many 'macho'-type aspies.

We don't tend to pay much mind to gender stereotypes, I think. I don't know. People called me gay (along with the n-word) throughout my entire time in school, but I don't know if they really thought (er, knew?) I was gay or if it was just an insult.

In the case with Aspie guys  it could be that our personalities are less masculine. Masculine guys are confident, outgoing, into sports; I think the typical Aspie guy is kinda the opposite of that. Some like me are also overly sensitive sometimes & don't express it in the rite way. It could also be that some are asexual or are get very uncomfortable talking about sexual stuff

I'm a woman with ASD (I loathe the word aspie) and as a teen I felt very uncomfortable in female clothing, make-up and cosmetics and was not "boy-crazy" like other girls my age. Because of this some kids, including myself, questioned my "lifestyle". It's not that I don't want to look feminine at all, it's just that I can't stand shoes that make you feel like daggers are stabbing your heels, makeup that's oily and greasy and (shudder) pantyhose!! !

If you don't fit into the typical gender stereotypes and obviously want a heterosexual relationship, a lot of people will assume a bunch of crazy stuff about you.

I've been called gay many times. I don't notice certain 'features' on women that normal guys do. So they assume I like men. And while I do, it's just annoying that you have to objectify another human being to be considered heterosexual.

It could also be because of how guys with Asperger's tend to be very shy. People tend to presume that shy guys are gay.

My parents thought I was gay. When I told them that I had something important to tell them, they thought I was going to come out to them as gay. Instead, I told them that I wanted to be a woman.

I was called gay a lot in PE class because I said stuff that wasn't quite rite. Classmates would ask stupid questions & talk out their a$$es & I would try to joke & stuff to be funny & kewl but I didn't do it rite. I didn't quite understand a lot of the stuff they were talking about. I also like some music, movies & TV shows that women like. I think the word Gay is an insult that has taken the place of the word Dork

How political do I need to be.

All aspies look different and different is beautiful.

hmmm... But perhaps I am more inclined to say yes. yes yes yes.

I believe some females with aspergers look more masculine, but not all.

I have heard people suggest aspergers being related to extreme 'man'

and some men with aspergers in highschool and like, are better perhaps at maths than PE.

hmmm My HighSchool Classes were streamed haha so we all couldn't throw a ball well, it was nice :)

In Tony Attwood's seminal work on Asperger's there is some notion that men with AS look more effeminate than others. I sure do. When I had hair down to my shoulders you could mistake me for a woman.

I'm not LGBT. I was just stopping by to see if there were any interesting posts.

Not sure if this has been suggest already but could Aspies stimming behavior be a factor :?: Some people think certain gestures & movements are homosexual

I thought that people would have inferred that I were gay from my lack of traditionally "masculine" traits such as aggressiveness, being outgoing, dominance, etc. But unless my memory is failing me, everyone that I have told explicitly that I am bisexual has either been surprised or told me that they did not expect that. When I inquired as to why that is, many of them have said that my body language is quite blank and lacking of the stereotypical flamboyancy.

I'm thinking the whole "Aspies mistaken for being gay" thing may have something to do with how people with AS tend to hold their hands. In my case, I actually am gay, so I wish more people would notice. Particularly young Asian men.
