I couldn't care less to vote?

Don't get me wrong here, I understand why people would want to exercise their right to vote in a democracy, but personally, I don't feel why I would bother to vote.

I don't know, maybe its because I'm too lazy to read up on what different political parties' agendas are. But seriously though, as long as people are free to practice their religion, as long as peaceful protests are allowed (to a certain extent as long as its not hate speech), as long as basic human rights are respected, why would I care?

I live in Canada BTW.

Also, different political parties cater to different populations (such as the rich/poor for example) so to vote for your own interests is kinda selfish. If you vote for the sake of other's interests, then its biased and you're picking and choosing.

Some politicians try to take away those rights slowly.

Yaye greetings jc6chan. I believe that I enjoy voting very much. I believe you have stated that you wish for human rights to be in place within society. I believe I enjoy voting also for parties who also improve animal rights for instance the green party. Of course I believe this is biased of me to choose a party. However I feel that the only way for me to be completely unbiased in my existence is not ever to have existed, which I feel is not possible for me. I feel that I must use my existence to carry out what I feel is best. Indeed I think that all individuals do this also.

I suppose it depends on what your political beliefs are. If you don't have any fundamental ideological beliefs from the get-go then I suppose it might not be worth the bother going to vote. Instead of reading up on each party's (Conservative, Liberal, NDP, BQ) manifesto just keep an eye out for what they say every now and then and take a look at their policies on Wikipedia?

If you're into a neoconservative political party, vote Tory.
If you're into a centre-left social democratic political party, vote Liberal.
If you're an avowed leftie socialist type, vote NDP.
If you want Quebec sovereignty (and live in Quebec), vote for the Bloc.

Simple really.

A Canadian friend of mine I speak to online simply doesn't vote at all as he doesn't feel he is represented by any of the parties in Canada. He's distinctly social conservative when it comes to politics (and is very religious) but with a libertarian bent.

If he lived in Britain he said he would probably vote UKIP.

"Free to practice their religion" and "basic human rights" cannot simultaneously be respected for most of the major religions. Hopefully you value the saner human rights, like not being arbitrarily deaded, above the false un-right to religion; you have the opportunity to vote for whichever party is most likely to curb religious muppetry and promote common sense.
