Why, I have a PhD in medical genetics.
You may want to make sure though whether you would cope with working with patients. I myself am really happy I didn't go for clinical medicine for precisely the same reason.

Biomedical engineering major. Senior now.

We learn a lot of medicine, but we focus on medical technology. We'll be designing processes and equipment having to do with medicine. I'll want a master's or a PhD when I graduate, though, rather than going straight to work.

I wish.

I'd love to go into sexual health or gynaecology. Either gynaecologist specialising in menstrual health also participating in research either on the medical or sociological aspects of menstrual health so I can be like the next Elizabeth Kissling or Chris Bobel only with a grounding in the medical, or on the front line as a sexual health adviser at a GUM clinic.

Most of my fathers family are in medicine so between that, a love of biology and a frustration at experiences I've had with many medical professionals, I've always wanted to go into medicine in some form or another, but financially I never stood a hope in hells chance. If I ever win the lottery I plan to go to study to become a sexual health adviser and start-up my own organisation dealing with women's sexual, menstrual and reproductive health issues.

I was planning, but I couldn't keep my interest up for classes like Organic Chemistry and it hit my GPA. :/

Also I took MCAT classes, I always got things wrong because I understood paragraphs differently than what was expected.

Now I'm thinking of doing a masters in some bio-science. And maybe work for a lab technician (I have a lot of volunteer hours that was nice). Though I'm interested in nursing for a more stable career? Can you get into nursing from a Biology BS? Or does the BS not help and I have to start from square-one to get into nursing post-undergrad.

I'm definitely going out for med school. I'm a science nerd and I have the grades, I just have organic chemistry left. I'm all set to take the MCATS at the end of the 2012 school year. That is assuming the world didn't end :)

That's what my little brother wants to do! Did you know what major you wanted to pursue when you started? Do you know if it's better than double majoring in premed and engineering (which is his current goal)? Is your school good/would you recommend another one, given complete freedom of choice?

Sorry. I got a bit excited there. My bro's still deciding where he wants to apply and I'm worried he'll just apply to mine, which doesn't have an engineering program, just because of the stellar academic support. He's really smart, but he's pretty scared of going away to college.... :?
