Global warming = More trees down

Our property has more damage to it this morning.

7am this morning a derecho moved through, the second one this week. This time the winds kicked up to over 70mph. Of course I slept through it all. I woke up to the sound of our neigbhors willow tree being struck by lightning as the storm was leaving. Pretty amazing sight. Half the bark was blown off the tree, bits were lodged into the aluminum siding of his garage.

And our backyard, full of more branches blown off the trees. On the TV news, pictures of trees down everywhere across the area.

My dad commented to me today that we use to get just storms, now we get nothing but severe storms. I happen to agree with him, I've never heard the tornado sirens going off in town as much as I've heard this summer.

Well, if this is becasue of global warming, I say thanks bush for not doing anything about it.

Well thats illogical, I live in the north of tornado alley (Iowa) and we haven't had a tornado warning once this summer, first time I never have had one in a long time. Though we did have the one severe storm this bring though the only tornados in that were all small and we have that every year. Oh and fyi theres more trees on this contient now then when Columbus landed here so we need to get rid of some lol.

P.S. I think you should stop using gas if you want to do something about global warming now. Ride your bike everywhere.

i'd like to see a tornado one day, ive never seen them. ive seen wall clouds though (pretty cool) there's too many mountains here in arizona for tornado's to form. you need flat land for those babys to form completely. we do get severe thunderstorms though. usually in the summer time it rains hard but only for like 20 minutes or so in bursts through out the day.

And how is Bush responsible for storms Hmmmm???

You should live by me. In the past two years we've had the following here in wisconsin

- Record flooding, May 2004 was one of the wettest ever
- July 13, 2004, tornadoes and baseball sized hail
- 2005 Drought, summer time between the middle of june and the end of september, it only rained four times.
- Record heat, July 2005
- Record tornado outbreak, August 18, 2005
- September 13, 2005, derecho, first time I've ever seen debris flying through the air
- Record winter warmth, high tempratures in january were hovering around the 40 degree mark
- Feb 16th blizzard, first blizzard to hit wisconsin since 1990
- May 11th "Winter Storm"
- July 1, hailstorms with baseball sized hail
- July 15, record heat
- July 17, severe storms - weather parameters that day were some of the most extreme ever seen here in wisconsin.
- July 24, derecho
- July 30, derecho
- Today, more record heat

And we still have august and september to go through yet!

No, Bush is responsible for there still being wack-os out there preaching global warming as fact. I expected the president to prioritize the job of getting rid of that type of thinking in this country. He let us all down.

Just kidding!

The idea that global warming has increased severe weather globally is not a simple fact. It can be supported with statistical averages, along with the impact of some recent geological activity, but the simple fact is that, overall, we don't have that big of an impact right, now. Making the problem seem bigger than it really is, is a good way to receive grant money for further research. And further research is necessary to fully guage the effect of any changes we make in our habits over the next few generations.

The real danger is in not recognizing and "fixing" some of the problems while they're still small. If we continue on our present course, we will have huge problems and could be in for an early ice age according to one line of reasoning. The polar ice caps could extend to within a few (<30)degrees of the Equator at the peak of the imbalance. All due to raising the average temp of our little rock by a couple of degrees.

Theory implies that the patterns of weather we all are used to could change, bringing drought to rain forests and flooding in the deserts. Or sending severe thunderstorms to areas not normally affected by them while sparing an area that has always prepared for the worst.


I'm sorry to hear about you troubles there, Scoots. We're hot here in Indiana, right now. All this week we are bumping the heat records. Unfortunately there are many people who live here that don't know how to deal with the heat and elderly start to drop from exposure. There are always reports of people locally dying from heat this time of year.

I rarely drive either. I have a minivan and usually a half tank lasts over a month.

I also plant as many native trees around the city as I can get away with. We need lots more trees on earth to help with ground level Ozone!

My dad works in a factory, he's not looking forward to it tonight. On nights like this, it usually gets over 110 degrees inside. He hates it.

I've asked many people I've run across about the weather, they all agree that things as of lately have taken a departure from normal. My grandpa once told me a story about his childhood in the 20's where when he'd come home from school in winter, there'd be so much snow in some places that he's have to crawl under live power lines on top of poles that were only four feet high because they were buried under the snow.

global warming we've had over 10 days that temps. have been over 100f . I am a beliver currently it is almost 8pm and it is still 97f outside.
