(I.e, for treating physical/ emotional ailments like depression and anxiety)

Currently suffering from depression/anxiety... marijuana helps me a lot in my opinion.

Random question, i'm tired and don't feel like posting another essay about it on this forum.

Post your opinion. No flaming.

I think that it is illegal for a reason and it should stay so.

Too many people make excuses to why they take illegal drugs and 99percent of reasons are not a good enough reason to partake in an illegal substance.

That is my opinion anyway.

It's illegal because the government likes to show people who is boss. That's it really. Total control.

I'm for it. It's better than tobacco.

I don't see what's so bad about all these "illegal" drugs. If I'm not mistaken, cocaine is counted in grams, and cocaine is pretty powerful. Risperdal (the medication I took for 12 years) is counted in MILLIGRAMS. 2 milligrams of that stuff is considered a high dose. A gram of Risperdal would probably kill me on the spot. As for marijuana, there are no known cases of lethal overdoses that I'm aware of. It's a values changing drug, along with LSD, which is part of the reason why they are illegal. Not only that, if these drugs were really that bad, they wouldn't still be around after thousands of years. The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and many talented artists used these horrible, horrible drugs. However, marijuana is never going to be legal, no matter what people wish for, or hope for, or how much people read about it, it's never going to happen. It would be nice, I could probably write an essay on the matter (although there are probably shockumentaries that go into much more detail than I ever could) but it's not going to happen. Regardless of the medical benefits, regardless of the fact that it helps with focus a lot more than medication does, money, not logic, is what makes the world go round.

Marijuana has definite medicinal properties, like many other plant-based substances being used.

I think the US govt may finally come to the realization that they're so broke that they need to find a new source of revenue, and taxes on marijuana could be the answer for them.

Now, whether they do it or not remains to be seen. They tend to be pretty tight-assed about admitting they're wrong and a move like that would necessitate a back-pedaling on their part.

Meanwhile, the answer to your question is yes, marijuana is very helpful when treating certain people with certain problems - it's way safer than alcohol, providing it's administered in capsule-form and not smoked. And, in my opinion, it's also much safer to use than a lot of drugs that are already being administered for anxiety everyday.

Perhaps this should go in PPR.

Anyway, I support it if it does indeed help the medical issues people claim it does. I support the idea of people having choices (after all, I am a Libertarian).

It's the same thing in the U.S.

A lot of people here say they don't trust the government. I think it's the other way around.

This^. Make it legal and tax it like everything else, in my opinion. I have no issues with marijuana. The whole anti marijuana stand is pretty ridiculous. I mean really. Tobacco is legal...and it's more likely to kill you. People die all the time from binge drinking and drunk driving. Alcohol is still legal (though, heh heh, there was that whole prohibition attempt. didn't end well.). Frankly marijuana seems like a good alt to me. I often wonder if they are just worried about tobacco companies going out of business. I mean...who the hell is going to want a cigarrette when pot is legal? Very few people.

I'm in favour of it. I used it for 16 years to control epileptic seizures. At that time I used to smoke it in a spliff. Also It could have saved a friend's life if she had eaten it in spacecakes due to its antimicrobial activity. Marijuana/hemp is also good for a number of mobility impairments such as MS and cerebral palsy amongst others. I say legalise cannabis.

I'm in favor of legalizing marijuana for medical, industrial and recreational use by adults.

In 1990 I wrote a song about it called Legalize. That lyrics page includes a hyperlink to an optional, free mp3 download from a 1994 recording of it by R Band.

I'm in favor of legalizing pot (booze and tobacco should be more strictly controlled imo).

I don't see any reason not do use cannabis for its medicinal properties.

I do, however, strongly disapprove of recreational users posing at medicinal users. F"&%¤#"K you for making life for genuine medicinal users more difficult than it needs to be. (I have never tried pot myself for any purpose).

That said, I am not 100% convinced using cannabis as an anti-anxiety treatment is a good idea on a long-term basis. Having spoken with many people who have done this, they do often say that it worked at first, but the underlying untreated anxiety just got worse and started to get increasingly paranoid features. Any users of cannabis as an anxiolytic who have a history of high anxiety (aka 'neurotic' types) should be aware of this and very closely monitor themselves. If you have mild anxiety, cannabis seems to be helpful ... but if you actually have an anxiety disorder, I would think twice before using cannabis regularly.

I wouldn't smoke that stuff for any reason. I don't need my moods more screwed up, than they already are.

It helps people with joint problems so I say it's good for those people as you can trust them that they won't abuse it...it's just to take the pain away.
