Do you feel paranoia over certain countries/nations? I do. My mind has been feeling zapped, you could say, by intrusive thoughts about one country in the world.

It's always a sweeping generalization to say that a nation has such and such a characteristic, as the nation is comprised of individuals like you or I. So it's only a tendency I notice with that country, but a striking, obvious one never the less - people from that country always seem very astute, too smart by half, do not suffer fools gladly, are very critical thinkers. In case I inadvertently offend anyone from that country I won't name the country, let's call it Timbuctoo.

So I chatted online yesterday with a girl from Timbuctoo. As soon as I told her which country I'm from her thought process, as demonstrated by her ensuing chat, immediately seemed to go like this: "What could be sexually predatory or perverted about his country? Ah, I think Muslims and Indians are predators. His country has a Muslim/Indian population, however much of a minority it is, so if he's one of them (I'm not) it gives me an excuse to say he's a predator/pervert."

This is what seems to happen when I'm in contact with people from that nation - it's what seems to happen with people from more intellectually advanced societies in fact. They look for an excuse to say I may be a sex offender and on a personal level, they seem to use that intellectual advancement to enable themselves to hurt others with mind games.

On another board I visit I seem to be hounded by another person from the same country after every other post I make there. He's hot on my heels after every other post I make.

On top of that I have been in face to face contact with people from the country before and even visited it twice, actively socialising and meeting people there both times. All of this just strikes me that I'm a particularly bad fit for that culture and vice versa, because I can assure you I'm far from astute or a critical thinker. I guess it is not the place for more sensitive Aspies like me. It'll blow them apart.

The country gave me nightmared last night as I dreamed about it, horrific ones too.

This is the good thing about relatively traditional societies like what I'm from. These societies tend to think, "It just is", meaning they accept things and people for who/what they are more. Maybe religious or spiritual reasons have an influence on that? If so, all fine and well. Sometimes they may discriminate against some rival group, but personality wise they accept for who they are, and are not as hurtful as so-called "liberal", socio-economically "advanced" or intellectually "advanced" societies such as that to which I've been referring, whose more astute, critical thought is more like "Why is it what it is", manifesting in a spirit of "What's wrong with it?"

I'm actually the "why is it what it is" kind of person and can't accept things blindly. But that doesn't mean that I am unaccepting of people who are different from me. I think, however, that many people like to judge an entire nation of individuals by some stereotype or by their government, and then are blind to the fact that they don't like when others do the same to them. But the pervert thing seems really odd. Why would she jump to that conclusion? That doesn't sound particularly intellectual to me.

Hmm..

I feel paranoid when I think of how politics / national identity affects a person's perspective, yes.
Maybe asking someone about their politics is a good way to understand preconceived notions that she may broadcast onto you, personally.

Yes first impressions when you see somebody from another country is they fit a stereotype in planted your head from media images or what your parents or friends said about that foreigner. Then if you have socialized with say half a dozen foreigners in your lifetime then that group will provide you with a "prototype" foreign person who is accessible to your mental imagery when you meet another foreign person later on.

The reality is humans are more alike at a biological/psychological level than we like to admit.

I used to be that way. I used to have fears of certain countries. I used to work myself up thinking about those fears. I got rid of those fears once I started college and decided to grow up.

The 'Belgians', that famous non-country, really have it in for us. They do. Honestly. ;)

(j/k - I call them a non-country due to the size and force of their separatist movements there.)

Yes, Australia. Every time I walk out my door I can feel the locals reading my thoughts and passing them along to the humanoid lizard race that run this country.

I have paranoia over the United States, for sort of justified reasons I think.
I dont worry about China since we're their best customers, Russia is pretty quiet since they decided the cold war years never actually happened ("nucleur wessles? where?"), North Korea is more comical in a cartoonish super villian way then an actual competitor to NATO, the nukes are a non point since no one would dare use them since it assures there own destruction.

So I mostly fear the US, not in that I think the US would attack the EU, but because we are dealing with waves of suicide bombers and terrorism and endless wars because of the US government, which basically created a generation of people who despise white people for bombing there homes in the name of anti USSR and democracy.

It all started with Algeria and France.
