Same on the anxious. I also tend to rock around people when I'm having conversations and I am comfortable. I rock in my therapist's office all the time and don't feel anxious there generally, and I tend to rock while talking to my mother. I just sort of stim more and more and more too.

I only noticed that I do it when my ex pointed it out. Now I seem to not be able to stop sometimes. It kind of goes with curling up when I'm stressed.

Rocking seems to be the best way to calm myself if I'm very stressed. It does make me feel better in other situations too.

Yes, I will say it is as soothing as swinging. The sensation of such vertigo sort of simulates that flying feeling.

I'm sure whats wrong with me but I don't find rocking soothing at all. Nor spinning around in circles. I must be a weird Aspie... :?

But I enjoy swinging (in a swing) and moving my knee up and down.

I never rocked before I read more into ASDs, so starting it was a conscious thing for me. But I noticed it made my other unconscious stimming (foot-shaking, tapping fingers, eye-moving) stop. I'll do it when excited, nervous, anxious or startled. If I'm not rocking, my foot, arm or hand is shaking or I'm fiddling with something.

I also rock sometimes and do other repetitive body movements-and I like watching spinning things like clothes in the dryer at the laundromat too.
