  1. Mormons are anarchist utopian socialists. (they call it the law of consecration or united order)
  2. there were Mormons at the 4th international.
  3. Plotino Contantino Rhodakanaty (mexican anarchist and labor radical) was a Mormon
  4. the tolstoyians (russian xtian anarchists) sang mormon hymns.
  5. they run their own sectarian welfare state.
  6. they swear in their temples to live comunally
  7. Karl Marx's sponsor when he moved to Britian was a Mormon.
  8. a link to a mormon anarchist (libertarian socialist) newspaper


so how can Glenn Beck and Mit Romney belong to this church
and still call themselves conservatives?
to which doctrine are they being unfaithful, the mormon or the republican?

Mate as a Mormon myself some of you points are spot on, the church done's have a doctrine that is left wing.

Sure, but Religion can also be founded upon certain political ideologies. Religiousity probably correlates to Political orientation; Devout Muslims won't be voting for pro-gay, pro-abortion parties

I kinda think you're wrong there. Pro-gay, pro-reproductive choice parties also tend to be parties that have policies most welcoming to immigrants and religious minorities. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim congressman, is a Democrat and a rather progressive one at that. Most Canadian Muslims (who do tend to be a bit more liberal than Muslims in general) vote for Liberal or NDP (both pro-gay rights/pro-reproductive choice parties).

Verses 4 to 8 in section 98 of Doctrine and Covenants, talks about the how the Saints should "befriend" the Constitution.

Quote:
And now, verily I say unto you concerning the laws of the land, it is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them.

And that law of the land which is constitutional, supporting that principle of freedom in maintaining rights and privileges, belongs to all mankind, and is justifiable before me.

Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land;

And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil;

I, the Lord God, make you free, therefore ye are free indeed; and the law also maketh you free.

Sure they can. There are Catholics in the Labour Party, and Catholics in the Conservative party. Muslims in the Labour Party, Muslims in the Conservatives. They are just emphasising different aspects of their faith. Traditional values, social justice etc.

JakobVirgil from the Mormon view point of the history of world there is only one group of people who have successfully lived
the law of consecration. So please tell everyone who that group was?

so mormons are constitutionalists.
incompatible with communism? socialism? not really
incompatible with anarchy strangely, no anarchist spain called itself a republic.

good points but I am not convienced.
