Hello,

Just want to say hello to the community here. I'm a new member, and relatively new to learn I have asperger's syndrome.

This is probably a common experience to many of you here: You live your life and at some point in your adulthood you discover something about yourself that explains so many of the 'quirks', life experiences, thought processes and social encounters of the past. Such an irony - I was an outcast for such a long period of time with the 'greater society' only to find something about yourself that shows how much in common you have with a different subset of people. I lost something with the discovery I have Asperger's - I lost a sense of uniqueness, - lonely yet comfortable you were different - 'special' if you will. Then to find you are not as unique as you thought - there are others like you - you are actually part of a different community - which is a feeling I've never had before. Well, I am here to discover more of what it is to be part of such a community.

Regards
Dwight.

Welcome. I can very much relate to your experience. Just a few short months ago when I finally decided I was going to accept and start examining this Asperger's thing, the loss of uniqueness was the first thing that hit me. I have begun to enjoy belonging to this group, to have similar life experiences to share and discuss with others across the globe. I like it here, I hope you do too.

We are still very diverse in general. If you be yourself, you are still very much unique (or at least I am, I seem to be out there on my own!), but I see what you mean.

In any case, welcome to WrongPlanet.
