I don't take one, but my mom is insisting that it would be a good idea. Last time I tried to even just take a kids vitamin, I got sick to my stomach when I ran, but maybe that's just me. What's everybody else's experiences with multivitamins?

I'm vegan and don't take any-
I'm not deficient in anything.

It shocks me how omnis who never think twice about their own nutrition suddenly start wringing their hands over a vegan or vegetarian's health.

Does she actually have reason to believe your diet is nutritionally-inadequate?

Not a vegan/vegetarian, but the diet is mostly vegetables/fruit and only a little meat. Whether or not you are vegan/vegetarian, a good multivitamin can help you feel better. Imagine all of the vitamins and minerals you are not getting enough of.

Multivitamins have made me feel sick as well. A few of them had extra unneeded ingredients which could have made me sick like inactive ingredients, herbs, flowers and stimulants, and others made me sick because I didn't follow the directions, take with a meal, drink with a lot of water, and so on. They could also just be a low quality brand. Taking multivitamins isn't a requirement. It's sort of an enhancement, but not steroids like enhancement. I feel better taking them, but it's not a huge difference that I feel. I would say I have a little bit more energy and I get less sick as often.

Maybe if a kids multivitamin made you sick maybe you should talk to your doctor about it and ask them if they have any advice for what to get or if you can event take them? I've never heard of anyone not being able to take a multivitamin, except for the warnings on the back for people with high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, or are allergic to yeast to not take their pill. Experimenting with different multivitamins and finding the right one for you might be good. Then again it may be doing bad?

I am vegetarian and I take a multivitamin and an antioxidant capsule every day. I am a little disorganised about my diet sometimes so I thought it would help.

I am vegetarian, and take the same multi-vitamin I took when I was an omnivore. Produce grown and sold today is generally (not always) lacking significantly in nutrients. So even when I am good and eat right, I'm fairly confident I'm not getting everything I need. So I supplement.

I would suggest that if you experience an unpleasant side-effect from a multi-vitamin, you try another brand. Or even switch to gummi vitamins (they're not just for kids!)

I am vego and don't take them because they keep making me ill :?

One i tried awhile back made me throw up, recently I started taking Centrum again, which I took for ages years ago, ut this time made my stomach bloated and uncomfortable the entire time I took it. Stopped taking it and I was fine.

Mustn't be agreeing with something in them?

It couldn't hurt to take one- omnis, too.

I have a big problem with Zinc- I used to take it when I was having skin....."issues" 8O
and they made me nauseous. Even thinking about them makes me gag a bit,
and most multivitamins that I've seen contain Zinc.
