any chance you could tick the box on the vbb code that lets users turn off pm capability. i was a member for 23 minutes before a very nice lady pm'd me asking me for a date and long time love ( im flattered but no...) id really rather just chat on the forums and not get this rubbish waving at me. i have already turned off email notification, its just getting a bit silly when ive had three in 24 hours.

thanks

I don't think so, or I think I would have heard about it.

Maybe they target new members, as I've not received one for a while.

I have been here 6 months and never received a single one. Don't really understand how they pick their targets.

I still get them every now and then and always report it. Sometimes I don't if I see it has already been handled.

They seem to target new members more than anyone else. WP gives them the tool to do just that! Anyone can look up who the latest members are. I created a temporary test account a couple of weeks ago and it got hit with PM love spam within 24 hours.

Me or the OP? I only got one.

It is almost worth while sending new members a standard greeting PM telling them to expect such crap!
I wonder if it puts any new members off the site?

I meant you when you created your sockpuppet account for a test.

Some places have a feature where you are not allowed to send PMs until you get a certain amount of posts. It's their way of preventing spam bots. Alex needs to do that.

Yes, I fully agree, but the odds of it happening are slim to none.
