well since february 2005 i,ve had this awful obsession with laura branigan, who sang gloria and self control who also died from a brain aneursym in 2004,
it all started when i got all her cds, for months and monthes when i listened to her music i used to get headeaches and worry about dying from a n aneursym, there were nights when i couldn't sleep because i was so scared of dying because of branigan, i had to go and see a doctor on several occasions because of my headaches but they siad i was fine, my parents had to take all laura branigan stuff away from me including cds, so for a while without the music i was alright, but a few weeks later i got her music back, for a few weeks more i thought i was having headaches and dying, but then i had everything taken way from me again, so for the next few weeks i was shouting , screaming , crying, i nearly killed myself, so my dad took me to see a counsiler, and i got two songs back, but untill now two songs where never enough, i wanted more branigan, so my dad has given me back my cds and evrything and i am still abit obsessed but i am getting there
so i think maybe my autism makes me like this because i have different obsessions
but i like being aspergers because it's special for evyone who has it

Your obsession has infected me.

I, I live among the creatures of the night
I haven't got the will to try and fight
Against a new tomorrow, so I guess I'll just believe it
That tomorrow never comes.

Thats heavy. Real Heavy. Great music. If there's no history of aneurysms in your family I think you'll be fine.

Laura Branigan was a very good singer.

For me it was a shock too when I heard about her death. She left this world far too soon!
Being afraid you might die the same way as she did is in my opinion rather natural. I think most people are terrified when they notice someone died too young. It could have been your death, but it was not, she died, you survived, when will be your turn to die? Life and death are never separated from one another I think. There is nothing we can change about her tragic death, but we can find a way to cope with the pain and questions her death left behind.

Think about her life and all the things she archieved in her too short life! Celebrate the things she left behind! I think we all can be very grateful for the things she has given to us. The joy of her music may put the saddness about her death into other dimensions.

Please realise that life is very short. I think you can try to celebrate every present moment if possible.
Perhaps the obsession with Laura Branigan and especially her death can be seen as that you have many questions about death and illness in general. Those questions are normal, every one has them, especially as we hear the news about someone we liked/admired has died far too soon. I do not want to offend you. I do not want to sound too much like I give you advice. This is just my opinion.

I have obsessions too, and they are not always pleasant. I wish I could help you.

I have never had an obsession on a famous person, though I have obsessed over shows and characters in those shows, mainly the X-Files and Enterprise.

I can certainly identify with obssessing over a dead musician or two. Music is a major part of my life. Brannigan was simply amazing. I hope you got to see her perform.

I was 15 when Jimi Hendrix died. He is still my favorite after all these years. In school, sometimes we would sneak in a radio and during some free moments we would cop a quick listen to music. There were no decent portable listening devices, except transistor radios, which were banned in school. I was 'sneaking a listen' when the announcement came, early in the day. I was totally devistated by the news of his death. There was no way I could go on with the day. I just walked out and ditched the world for a few hours. Actually it took days to work out the pain to the point that I could move on through it.

My dad being a musician himself, seemed to understand better than anyone else and allowed me to greive in my own way, but after a couple of days he started to bring me back. His method was to play a song for me that I had wanted him to play for a couple of years. I also liked the Beatles and when I first heard them, several years before I tried to get him to play some of the simpler songs, but he was too busy making a living for us all. One afternoon, he came into my room with his guitar and asked if I would turn off my stereo (Hendrix) and try something with him. He had been working on "Norwegian Wood" and played it for me and wanted to try it together. My dad was the coolest!

My point is that there must be some kind and friendly support that you can tap for the worst times as you trudge your way through this. Use your imagination and, slowly at first, try to find constructive ways to honor Laura's life. Like further researching her life and personality, for instance. Try to find out more about her musical influences and efforts she made with other musicians. Find out what friends she had and how they have moved on. Her celebrity co-efforts are surely well documented and some more info is probably available on the net. What music did she listen to? What did she do for her community with her success? Was she a person you would have liked to have been friends with? Use your imagination and create a better place for yourself to smile from.

I know it seems like I'm telling you to feed one your scariest monsters, but I'm not convinced that "just snap out of it" or "pull your self up by the bootstraps" or "just get over it" or " get a grip" or any other inspirational NT buzzword loaded commands will help any of us very much. Accept that you have to work slowly and come to terms with this in your way. Make some progress towards moderation everyday and don't hurt yourself anymore.

I have missed a few days in the last 35 years, but generally speaking I play some Hendrix every day.

Do not feel quilty about your obsession with Laura Branigan.
As you write yourself, many people are fascinated with someone at some point in their life.

I know, I have had obsessions myself, as a teenager and being an adult. Do not feel ashamed of it.

I have an Obsession like that, but it's with John Lennon. I brighten up, whenever one of his songs comes on the Radio and his Music soothes me. I also find that there are a lot of messages in his Songs that I can relate to. I have a thing for Music in general. It keeps my mind off my Social Problems.
