At the beginning of this year I registered for an Hons (Psych) at an opening learning institution. Two days ago I was told I did not qualify for the programme because I am missing a couple of courses. My registration was then canceled with full refund, I was promised registration for the following term for the courses I am missing only to find that registration is now closed. No one is responding to my emails anymore or taking my calls. I have wasted an entire year because of negligence on their part, I also quit my fultime job so I could spend more time on the programe. I am thinking of suing the institution for all this trouble. I also had started making applications for a Masters programme that I was intending on next year and have spent lots of time and effort putting all the requirements together. I am absolutely appalled that such a big institution would approve registration for a programe, and then deregister me 6 months down the line with no apology for their error. I am absolutely frustrated. Does anyone think I have a case? Surely this is not acceptable.

you're fighting an uphill battle there.

Thing is, they will say that it is not their responsibility that you signed up for courses you did not have the pre-requisites for (and they will point out to their mighty catalogs and other documentation). Then they will say that registration on the following semester was also your responsibility...you did not sign up in time or the class was filled up before you got around to signing up.

If you don't have anything in writing from the Univ. that they promised you a slot in the class...then you have no case. That is the sad truth. :(

I dont recomend it because they run schools like the mafia and you could end up on a stalking list run by big buisnesses and the government. We are living in a different world now. this happened to my mom for being a whistleblower against a school system who was very corrupt.

If you dont believe me check out the abuses of the patriot act written by ACLU.

It is just not worth it, trust me.
