For those of you who don't know, grindcore is a form of death metal. It sounds like a cross between a burping fit and a wet fart. I've heard some really crappy genres before, but this is absolutely the worst form of music I will ever hear. I know I say this all the time, but NOW I'VE HEARD IT ALL.

EDIT: I didn't know this, but the title of this song is actually called "Gargling With Infected Semen" I'm not sure if that's a typical song title or not...but I don't even want to find out at this point. The music however, seems to be on par for the genre. I wish that guy at work never told me about grindcore.

It originated in the UK; napalm death, carcass etc scum was released in 1987. i used to like a bit of early carcass

it got a lot better later on when they started to move towards a death metal direction.

Worst genre ever? You're certainly not alone in thinking that.

I believe (though I might be wrong) that the clip you posted is a sub-genre of grindcore called, er ... pornogrind. The voice is fed through a distorter to produce the gargling sound. Regular (!) grindcore is more like hardcore punk with growling. I've checked it out on youtube, and I can find surprisingly little I like. Maybe it really is a crap genre after all.

I quite like Napalm Death though.

NOOOOOOOO!! ! I LOVE GRINDCORE!! !! !

Grindcore is NOT a form of Death Metal. You are thinking of Goregrind, which is the stupid music you have linked to (Goregrind is REALLY, REALLY stupid). Grindcore is a mix of Punk and Extreme Metal, with an emphasis on playing songs as fast, loud and short as possible. Below are the two most notable grindcore bands. They are BLOODY BRILLIANT.

and of course, the second shortest song ever (Cattle Decapitation's (a Goregrind band) 'Recapitation of Cattle' is shorter) ...

You suffer but why is one of the greatest songs ever. but I don't like anything that has core in it's name. Metalcore, Deathcore, Hardcore (modern hardcore, hardcore punk was awesome).

whilst theres a recently active thread dedicated to the genre of (and i quote) suicidal depressive black metal , calling anything else the worst genre ever seems a bit harsh.

E2A i feel a bit bad about my predujice as i havent actually heard and suicidal depressive black metal. But then thats only because i have no desire to either to commit suicide or become depressed. If i did i either wouldnt be able to report back and tell you how good it was (because id be dead) or i would hate it (because id be depressed) or id be alive and non-depressed in which case id feel id been grossly misled.

Well, my friend told me about Grindcore, and the fresh prince is the video he told me about. I thought Grindcore was something else, but he said it was called Grindcore. If it's called Goregrind, then that is the worst genre ever. I just know that everything I searched for had that same sound to it.

Yes, grindcore is the bastard offspring of extreme punk and extreme metal with some noise influences sometimes thrown in.
IMO an album like Napalm Death’s “Scum” tends to fall more on the punk side of things where as the early Carcass material might owe slightly more to metal. I’ve always thought that goregrind mostly just meant grindcore that might be a tiny bit more inspired by death metal and lyrical themes about gore.. (early Repulsion, Carcass)

Grindcore, goregrind or both, whatever you want to call it Repulsion’s “Horrified” is probably my favourite ever, followed closely by the first 2 Carcass, Terrorizer “World Downfall” and Brutal Truth’s “Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses”..
I didn’t even bother to watch that Fresh Prince video…

hi all. felt compelled to at least post something on here after seeing the phrase "grindcore" unexpectedly

ahhh, grindcore. nothing wrong with grindcore. horses for courses

of course, for grindcore, these horses are dead and buried and rotten...

but still... oh, and i recently saw one of the "grind" films that gave the genre its name. it was low budget awful pap, but isnt that the case with alot of films.

i met cannibal corpse after a gig a few years back. thoroughly decent chaps. no... really!

fisher on vocal rather than barnes, but... thats a debate for someone else to have.

its all rock n roll afterall.
sing along... "they think they know... who i am......all they know is.....

:D

peace to all and sundry

I always found CC to be a bit overrated. Not bad per se but not on par with a lot of the other old school death metal out there.
Morbid Angel on the other hand... *headbangs like a maniac*
I'm not expecting another Altars or Covenant but can hardly wait to spin the new MA on my new turntable…

Another tasty treat:

hi all. yes, CC are probably over-rated. i guess theyre in the strange position of being the most infamous of the lot in terms of media coverage (apart from deicide, but they again, arnt really grind, more... death)

i grew up with all the NWOBHM and quickly found myself moving through thrash (the usual suspects) and delving into alot of tampa-bay bands like obituary, death, cynic (who are really rather excellent). Its hard to separate a liking for a particular band from the facts though i agree.

nowdays im a huge jazz fan. 70's jazz / fusion mostly

i guess i was a subconsciously angry fellow back in my teens lol

actually, regarding grindcore in general, when i was teaching music, i recommended a few "old school" bands to a student and he's since become addicted to them. nice to know they still hit the spot when needed.

i quite enjoyed some tapes i had of autopsy... (reviewd as sounding like obituarys drunk roadies), and carcass of course are excellent. interestingly, theyre all academics and vegetarians. lol

they even appeared on the UK sci-fi comedy show Red Dwarf.. playing the part of "the Om band"

strange seeing Cannibal Corpse in Ace Ventura too. i guess thats about as famous as you can get making such a racket. lol
