I am just kind of curious as to what your veiws on this is? is there a typical way most of us dress?....or do many of us just tend to dress in a way society finds odd but in no particular style?

I personally am not sure if my having aspergers effects how I dress or not, other then the fact that I have never cared much for popular trends due to aspergers related ignorance of social norms.

I dress more unlike others because I don't follow trends. I just do it because I like to be different so I don't know if its a general aspie thing. I can't really explain how I dress though. Because I would have to show you and I don't have the pics...

Pragmatically. Comfort. I don't wear anything 'stylish' or for particular purposes. I get shirts cheap. Most everything I buy with the knowledge that it will be covered in sand/dirt so nothing fancy either.

I tend to mostly buy cheap clothes at the thrift store or clearance racks......though I do like my band t-shirts, music is a bit of an obsession so I gotta have those. Also I have to like the way the clothes feel and look on me, I dont care what others think of how it looks if I like it I wear it.

I dress the way I want to dress. I don't care what people think about it. I am comfortable in the stuff I wear. I don't like getting dressed up fancy. In fact, I can't stand getting all dressed up, like with make up and earrings etc. etc. Makes me feel like I am part of a club.

One thing I really don't get is high-heels.....for one I cannot walk in them, and they make my feet hurt so I refuse to wear them. Has anyone else experianced this.

Depends on the person. For me, I wear band tees and shirts with some smart-ass typography on it, jeans or shorts, that's pretty much it. I occasionally get dressed up when the situation calls it if I'm going out someplace where I know there's going to be a large group of people there, or something. Whatever's comfortable is usually the best route otherwise.

I just grab whatever happens to be available. I don't stress too much about what it is. Most of my clothes are gifts. I rarely buy my own clothes. When I do it's mostly just finding something functional.

I just wear whatever's cheap and comfortable. I don't think I've bought new clothes in about 3 years, which, I guess is starting to show...things wearing thin, abrasions that leave frayed areas, etc. I don't see much point in wearing things simply for "style", first because I always get style wrong anyway, and second because things that are stylish don't seem to be too comfortable. I had an acquaintance try to take me shopping once and it was a terrifying experience. Aside from being in a mall, which I hate, I've never worn anything as uncomfortable as "skinny jeans". Needless to say, I'm sticking to familiar types of clothing...flannel is utilitarian and comfortable. Good stuff.

I only wear things which are comfortable. My favourite is my velour tracksuit because I can just relax in it. I can't wear anything with lace on it becuase that is irritating to my skin. As for high heels, I tried to wear some high heeled boots once (at 4'10" I thought I could do with a height boost!) and ended up collapsing in the street in agony because my feet were covered in blisters! Needless to say I no longer try to wear anything with a heel. Trainers all the way!

Many of you mention comfort.....maybe this has to do with sensory issues. I cannot wear clothes that make me uncomfortable and certain textures of cloth or types of clothes are very uncomfortable. such as high-heels, dresses, some types of jeans, I hate the texture of velvet...running my fingernails through that has the scratching a chalkboard effect. I mean maybe a lot of NT's can withstand more discomfort since they dont have the sensory issues.

well its not big deal....some people find it weird but not only are guys clothes comfortable but sometimes I do not feel like expressing my feminine side and prefer to come off more masculine i guess you could say. or maybe more gender neutral...so anyways no offense taken.
