the sound in minecraft you dislike

if you played minecraft you know sounds play a large part, from knowing when the sun goes down to finding a dark cave, or locating a monster you can't see.

alot of sounds scare me, the sound of a skeleton lurking near me to the subtle noise of a creeper before he blows, to the shrieks of ghasts in the nether.

but one i hate outright, the squeaky sound of the spider. i got annoyed by them enough to run outside in the dead of night with nothing but a stone sword, just to drive them to hell. then i would get ambushed and die right after my doorstep. eventually i lined my houses with cactus on the roof just hear them die over and over.

To me this game is a Survival Horror, the sounds literally make me Scared to play with monsters on.

I wish there was an option to turn off Cave sounds, they make me Jump every time(In real life)


and I agree on the Spider Screech, damn illogical spiders, can't even climb walls them.

tell me about it i used to play on peaceful for the longest time, then i wanted a change of pace, so i put it on normal, and the fist night hearing all those noises was horrible. but eventually i got past it, but i still freak out when i get ambushed by creepers in mines or shot at by a skeleton that i didn't see.

caves with overhead paths tend to get to me, because the creeper ambushes happen in those kinds of caves.

as for the cave sounds i'm not sure if the sound files are required to run minecraft, if they are you just mute the files in an audio program. some games need the audio files, if they are not required then find them and remove them.

in a current patch notch made it so spiders can climb, i know because i was building a sniping tower that was lit up on top and i got attacked by a spider from behind. i get scared alot on minecraft but i was getting bored on peaceful, to each his own i guess.

edit: i found out how to turn off ambient noises, or at least it seemed to, it's getting late and though i don't mind staying up all night my mom will hound me if i don't sleep. i'm not sure what computer you have, but if you can find the .minecraft folder, go into resources, then ambient, and just rename the cave folder i added a 2 for testing. i did this with the bgm folder on sonic adventure i got through steam, it worked for that game so it could work for minecraft.

one thing i have to say it does work and it kills anything that gets up there. but it makes it harder to expand your house. but it does stop ambushes of any kind.

my current house on my current map is very high up so i might put a water flow on top of it so mobs fall to their death. and it would make my house a pretty waterfall as well.

I have the radio going quietly in the background. It helps with the noises. I don't like spelunking because the darkness and random noises sorta freak me out. When I do that I have to mentally prepare for it.

My least favourite sound is that of the creeper's hiss, coming from behind

The Thwang of an arrow fired near my character without having noticed the skeleton. or the hiss of a creeper behind me while i craft stuff.

i used to do that, now i don't i find it makes things easier on me, the more better i can hear the mobs the better perpared i can be for when i get ambushed.

Yeah this is exactly the reason why I play on peaceful. I can deal with the monsters, but I cannot deal with their noises. They are too frightening. I physically flinch or every time I hear something scary because it has such a strong atmosphere.

The sounds in the Nether always get me. I remember the first time I went into the Nether, I had to take a break. Scared me half to death.

After a while, I adjusted to the sounds of the game. The sounds are pretty extreme. They got me real jumpy.

yeah i still can't go to the the nether without getting spooked.

I haven't played the game since the halloween update.

When did they add rain to it?! That noise scared the s**t out of me i thought my sound card had broken

i'm not sure it was just a few patches back though, i think it was in the 1.5s beta patches, or 1.4s i'm still running 1.5 because if i update all my mods will break, and that will ruin my map i got right now.

it was some time around when they added wolves. i'm waiting for offical mod support, i've got about 12 right now.

Spiders and Zombies are the worst. I poo a little every time I hear them.
And when a Archer hits you from nowhere with his super scary arrow. *BROOUUNKK!!*

Worst scare I got was during day time, I got out of my house to build turned a corner and my heart stopped. I was new to MC and my Island where I live is infested with Green Boomers. It was only a pig.
