I'm wondering how often this happens, and with which dx, if you don't mind sharing. :)

diagnosed as deafness @ 3
diagnosed as Schizoid, schizophrenia, and narcissim but this Dx was vetoed for depression. @ 29ish(?)
diagnosed as bipolar and PDD-NOS (by seperate professionals actually but they both seem to fit...) @ 34

I actually sometimes doubt my Dx and ultimately like to affectionately refer to myself as JUPD, the Jacked Up Personality Disorder.

When I was about 7 I was said to have seperation anxiety due to the fact that I would freak out at school and want to be at home. It didnt help that I was constantly picked on by half the kids and some of my teachers. At 10 I was diagnosed with depression and was put on a variety of depression meds. I was sent to a psychyatrist who diagnosed me with ADHD and everything from schizo to bi polar which he put me on lithium for. The lithium really messed me up and caused me to act out and when i was 13 i was put into a mental hospital. They decided it was best for me to start high school in a partial hospital where they said I had traits of borderline personality disorder and ODD. My family has friends in scotland and we visited them when i was about 15 and they have a son with aspergers and thats when my mom was like wow you really seem to have traits of aspergers. My psychyatrist kinda pushed it aside and it wasnt until things got really bad at home and we had to do family therapy and they wanted a deffinit diagnosis that a totally different psychyatrist or whatever diagnosed me with aspergers, adhd, and anxiety (partially caused by years of being picked on). I was almost 18 when i was finally diagnosed.

I think the worst misdiagnosis I ever got was that I was fine.

I was tested for ADHD when I was 4 and the doctor didn't think I had it. I'm thinking what the hell? I clearly know I have it and nowadays kids are being overdiagnosed with the condition. You have no idea how annoying that is.

I was just reading over your replies and my husband said, "See? It's not just you!" Knowing that there are other people out there who have been through similar events makes me feel a little less out there on my own. Thanks, guys.

I was misdiagnosed ADHD and Non Verbal Learning disorder and if it count possibly Apergers why do I say that? Because my last nueropyc determined that I have PDD-NOS that I have PDD-NOS because I fit the criteria for classic perfectly but have the verbal skills of an as pie and I don't qualify as an as pie because I had the speech delay. Very complicated really but she said I am defiantly on the autism spectrum
