I'm in my 40s and am married to a mild Aspie. Most resources I have found on line or in the bookstores are about Aspie kids. Where can I learn more about adults with Asperger's to help understand him better and improve our marriage. Thanks.

I'd also like to see what books/resources people would recommend as I find a lot of resources on AS in relationships can be very negative or judgemental, and fails to offer positive, constructive, helpful advice to NT partners.

I could be looking at the wrong online resources and amazon reviews though.
There's probably some somewhere...what do people recommend?

I do not know about any books on that subject, but I am a 39 years-old NT woman married to a mild Aspie. I can recommend you to learn about the syndrome and its characteristics. That helps a lot. You will need lots of patience, be a good listener, learn to talk youd mind, and be honest all the time. There are blogs of NT women married to Aspies, that is also helpful.

A lot of the blogs I've read by NT women with Aspies are extremely negative & hateful. The other stuff you mentioned is very good thou

Thank you. Can you please specify where you learned about the syndrome and characteristics, and how I can find the blogs of NT women married to Aspies?? Thank you. It helps to know I'm not alone! How long have you been married, and how long ago did you find out his diagnosis?

Here are some sites where you can read about the syndrome and characteristics: http://www.autism-world.com, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asperger_syndrome, http://www.ehow.com/how_2176511_recogni ... drome.html, http://www.autism.org.uk/about-autism/a ... drome.aspx.
Here are some blogs about NT women married to Aspies: http://aspiewifeandmom.blogspot.com/, http://ntwifeaspielife.blogspot.com/, http://lovingthetasmaniandevil.wordpress.com/about/.
And no, you are not alone. There are a lot of NT women married to Aspies out there, and also a lot of Aspie women married to NT guys, and Aspies married each other (my daughter is an 11-years-old Aspie, and she says when she grows up she wants to marry an Aspie guy). I've been married to my husband for 16 years. We found out he was an Aspie 3 years ago when our then 8 years-old daughter was diagnosed. We started reading about Asperger's and he noticed he showed the same characteristics. He asked our kid's therapist and she confirmed he was an Aspie, too. He did not get a formal diagnosis (she is a therapist, she cannot provide a diagnosis). But he does not need to get a diagnosis at this point. He understands our daughter so well (he knows exactly how she feels and why she does the things that she does) that there is no need for a diagnosis to confirm he is an Aspie, too.

If you'd like some peer support, you could ask my wife. She's NT an I have AS. PM me for her email address, she is not on this site.
