I'd prefer a Christian Bible.

It is true that with so many to choose from, it is pretty much a matter of taste, with convenience, style, base text, doctrinal slant, familiarity among the factors. But - and I say this with neutral value judgement, as a linguist who has dealt with translation theory and actively involved IN Bible translation: both the older New World Translation and the revision some samples of which you have provided samples are using a translation style which is as user UNfriendly as anything I have ever seen. To choose NWT you need to buy into the specific set of doctrinal takes.

However, Fnord, content-wise, that I have seen there is nothing unChristian in the text - there is the Jehovah thing and some minor exegetical emphases. Most Bible translations the big doctrinal differences show in the pulpit, not in the text.

A free Bible, something as simple as a Bible, if it's from Witnesses well it MUST be evil. If we encourage people to read their Bible -- it doesn't have to be the NWT, simply one they feel most comfortable with -- well this MUST be some sort of evil request or scheme.

I say "hello" and you start beating me up for being friendly... or I offer you a piece of cake and you throw it to the ground. :(

I'd need an NSV Bible PDF in 16-point Ariel font.

I'm building my own, one chapter at a time.

I just thought there are so many bibles online that it's nice to have a free Bible in PDF format. Of course some one could take the time and create a PDF of their favorite Bible. A bit time consuming...

Vexcalibur check out verse 18 http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/ps/83.html Have you seen that before? Amazing huh? :)

Cool. Well when you finish could you provide me with a free copy?

Also I found this "Note" interesting http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=jehovah

Do take a look at http://biblos.com/. They do not have the New World, but they have a lot.

Anyhow, kxmode, I don't see anybody has slapped at you. This thread, in fact, has been remarkably free from attack. Okay, so Fnord and I from different viewpoints have an issue with that translation. But no slaps at you.

Specifically, nobody labelled that Bible version or you evil.

In fact, you would have been welcome to add your link to Al-Maktaba [set up to try to consolidate some of the religious reading references], and I would have graciously thanked you.

see Is: 7:14 in this translation.

Maiden = Virgin. Consign this translation to the flames. And Miriam did not call her bastard son Immanuel.

One issue criticism - like if I refused to eat in any restaurant that served eggs.

I will not waste my breath on the linguistic reasons that undercut your one issue, nor the intriguing question why, holding no brief for Judaism, you would care about that. Hey, I have irrational prejudices of my own - that 'tuww' thing.

But burning a book for one or two sentences? Just a titch toiuchy, isn't that?

Actually it's God's book.

“All Scripture is inspired of God.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
"The spirit of Jehovah (יהוה YHWH which is pronounced and spelled as Jehovah in English) it was that spoke by me, and his word was upon my tongue.” (2 Samuel 23:2)

It has been done, a unchristian Bible is more interesting and appealing, don't you know that?

The TNKH (what you heathens call the Old Testament) was written by Jews for Jews;
