From reading WP, I've noticed that a lot of people consider themselves to have both AS traits and NT traits, but don't usually mention what their NT traits are. So who here has both AS traits and NT traits, and what are your NT traits?
Let's make sure to distinguish between NT traits and AS-to-NT adaptations. An NT trait is "I employ intuitive theory of mind during casual interactions". An AS-to-NT adaptation is "I employ analytical theory of mind during casual interactions".
For the purposes of this thread, you can say that you have an NT trait if you have it at least 50% of the time. For example, I employ intuitive theory of mind during casual interactions approximately 0% of the time, and I employ analytical theory of mind during casual interactions approximately 5% of the time. 95-100% of the time, I forget to remember that there is such a thing as theory of mind, so I have neither the NT trait or the AS-to-NT adaptation. Instead, I have the AS trait of not employing theory of mind regularly.
From the rdos quiz, one of my NT traits was something like "I know that other people have thoughts and feelings different from my own". Well, yeah, of course I know that, and I can even figure out, while sitting around in front of my computer, what some of those might have been, but I almost never remember to apply the info in real-time. IMO, it's arguable whether a "yes/often" answer indicates an NT trait on that question. Maybe something like "I know that other people have thoughts and feelings different from my own, and I notice and respond to them in real-time" would be an NT trait. Maybe that's what the question was actually asking, and I took it too literally? Who knows? Anyway, I answered that question the NT way according to the scoring.
I'm curious what your NT traits are, what traits are the most common, and whether they are truly NT traits or AS-to-NT adaptations.
For NTs, what is your favorite NT trait? What is your least favorite?
